I picked up this trick from someone close to me. I have been doing this for about 10 years have had 3 kids and have looked great all along. I have been feeling really sick so I have tried to stop. I am going on 3 months. I have used it about once a week because I can't go to the bathroom without it. I have gained about 10 - 15 pounds also. Does this sound familiar to anyone.

you do realize that taking laxatives have absolutely no effect on body fat and all they do when consumed in excess is to dehydrate the body

LOAD up on Raisin bran....start out with 2 bowls a day...1 in AM, 1 in PM. That will help you go without the laxatives. In a pinch, use stool softener like Colace. Probably what you have gained is mostly fluid. You have abused your body while you were abusing the laxatives...you were not letting your body absorb all the nutrients....make sure you are taking a multi vitamin. No telling what you let your body be robbed of. Also, colon health relies on being cleaned out by items like leafy green vegetables, roughage....not just food being swooshed by the colon from using laxatives. This could impact your future colon health...think colitis, polyps, etc. I'd highly recommend getting in touch with a therapist specializing in eating disorders. Controlling your body's weight and it's bowel functions has to do with a sense of NOT being in control. They can help you gain a sense of control in your life so that you do not feel like you need to control what is going into/out of your body in a way that is unhealthy for you.

You shouldn't use laxatives. They can dehydrate you, and also all the vitams in minerals can go out in your stool.

Hey, I used to do that! It's a form of bulimia!
Stop it before you do serious damage.

See a doctor! This is a type of eating disorder! Please Please, I don't know the particulars, but don't do anything more to your body. It is an addiction. Seek help! There is a healthier way.
