All modern Christian religions are based on a book between 1800-2000 years old, which was partly based on a much older book. Today's version of the book, the king James bible has been translated and edited by countless people with their own agendas. None of the stories are historical fact, only based on some factual event such as a really bad rainy season and a flood, or a drought, or a storm of locus. Just take your self back to grade school when you played the game "telephone." One person would whisper something to somebody else and the message was passed around the room until the last person would announce it. It would almost never be like what the original message was. Imagine this over thousands of years.
Christianity has always stayed about 100 steps behind modern science, 1000 years ago you could have been burned at the stake for believing the earth was not the center of the universe, or the the sun revolved around the earth. As scientific fact becomes too obvious to ignore it is only then the Christians will accept it. But they will fight it every inch of the way like they are doing now with evolution.
It's so foolish because rarely will a christian admit any of this, if they even know it to begin with.

Our enemy. It is his power over nonbelievers that renders them blind, deaf, and lost. They no not what they do, say or believe.
People claiming to be Christian and behaving worldly.
Other religions claiming to be Christian and having separate beliefs and traditions and even translations of the Bible.
A Christian is one who follows Christ. So many people think Christianity is a religion like Catholicism or Mormonism. Being a Christian means you walk with the Lord, you talk with the Lord, and you have a relationship with the Lord. I saw it said on here before that being a Christian is not a religion it is a relationship. Many people don't understand this.
Religion alone has a bad name anymore so of course Christianity is going to be number one on the list for bad names.
So, people think it's foolishness because of Satan and his power over the nonbelievers, worldly "Christians", other religions and the word religion.
It's very sad so many don't understand.

Well the Bible says that our faith is "a stumbling block and an offense" to those who don't share or understand it. And that certainly is true, people react with either total disinterest or total hostility.
A lot of people find it difficult to accept how simple it is to be saved--that there's nothing we have to "do" to be saved, in fact there's nothing we CAN do except accept the gift Jesus offers us. They feel there has to be a "catch". And since they can't do it themselves, we who accept this free salvation must be weak, or silly, or misguided.
I may be all of those things, I don't deny it. But I am also saved, and sure of my ultimate destination.

The answers are "legion".
There are probably as many as there are people who think it is foolish. To each of us is given a measure of faith the sad fact is that some will use that measure and others will not.
To a great many people it is the simplicity of salvation that they cannot believe.
"All I have to do is say yes, Lord, I accept the free gift you offer?" "It can't be that easy it's impossible!"
Truth is it's not impossible all that's required is to exercise that "God given measure of faith".

Faith. People as a whole do not understand the ability of a Christian to trust God and take Him at His word. It goes beyond the five senses and this is hard for man to understand. We are taught very young not to trust. My mother used to say "Dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see." It takes a complete regeneration (rebirth) to learn this ability.

It is much easier to dismiss the message of the gospel if you can dismiss the people by portraying them as stupid and wanting to force their beliefs on others. On a deeper level yo know this isn't true but it doesn't matter because people don't want to face up to the prospect of haviing to be accountable for thier own actions. Dismiss God effectively then you have o one to account to for any moral choices you make.

The bible says it straight out...the cross is foolishness to those that are perishing....but to us that are being saves it's the power of God.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Cr 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
.1Cr 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain
2CO 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

A fool calls others foolish. There are alot of lost souls out there and Christians are easy targets. We understand that people don't like us, or believe us, and we are just sad for them.

The fact that we are full of life, faith, hope, and love and that they are not makes us seem foolish to the world.
