The drug manufactures label the pills so that you will know what to take.
You might call your doctor and ask him..You do not want complications with any other medicines you are taking or problems with kidneys, liver or heart.

Ok, I will tell you what I have been taught by doctors and pharmacists and professionals at my pharmacy school. The recommended dosage is 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed. However, with doctor approval, one may take up to 4-200mg tablets up to 3 times a day. As a student or pharmacist, we cannot legally tell a patient you may take up to 4 tablets at once without the approval of a doctor or a prescription for the 800mg tablets. Only take as much as you need for the pain or fever, and never more as ibu can cause stomach upset or kidney damage and possible liver damage if abused over a long period of time. If the medication causes stomach upset, you can try eating some bread or drinking a glass of milk with the tablets. If the advil is not enough, 2 hours after taking the first dose, you may take 2-500mg acetaminophen (Tylenol) tablets. This will help to offset the time between the advil dosing to help keep pain relief continuous. Be careful with Tylenol though, this medication is known for causing fatal liver damage when used in excess or with alcoholic beverages. If you are really in that much pain though, I would seriously consider seeing your doctor. There are many other pain medication on the market that are just as inexpensive but do require a prescription.

Here's my recommendation.
You can take 3 Advil (no more than 3). I was in the hospital and the doc said 3 was ok. But unlike 2, when you can take more after 4 hours, now you must wait 6 hours.
BUT, here's the kicker. If the Advil (ibuprofen) doesn't work, take 2 Tylenol as well. Tylenol (acetominophen), works differently than Advil and thus is not a add-on effect. It will battle yoru pain in a different manner.
I get bad headaches. Sometimes the Advil works and sometimes now. I usually wait 1/2 hour and if the pain is still bad, I take the Tylenol.

That must be a new kind of advil that comes in "peels". I believe that the packaging says that you can take up to 8 pills in a 24 hour period. Take the 8 pills, pass out, and wake up the next day. You should feel great by then.

depending on your size, u can take up to 800 mg which is generally four pills. be sure to eat as it can upset your stomach. if u look on the bottle it will tell u how often u can repeat this dosage.
Do not take more of this medication than is recommended. An overdose of ibuprofen can cause damage to your stomach or intestines. The maximum amount of ibuprofen for adults is 800 milligrams per dose or 3200 mg per day (4 maximum doses). Use only the smallest amount of ibuprofen needed to get relief from your pain, swelling, or fever. Take ibuprofen with food or milk to lessen stomach upset.

If the instructions say only take 2, then do so...After taking 2 advil and your still in pain. See your Dr, he/ she may know your medical history and what medication is best for whatever pain you are dealing with.
Best to be safe, then sorry later!
PLEASE, use common sense and DO NOT take more then 2 at once. SEE YOUR DR.
Good luck!

If it says 2 PILLS, then take as directed. They dont put that on the label for nothing. Your liver can only metabolize so much then it starts to harden and subsequently death results. Never over medicate on either OTC or prescribed meds. With all medications, read the label and follow the recommended dosages.

apropriate dosage depends on body weight or body surface area.
the dosage on the pack is for an avarage sized person.
however TAKE CARE, if you overdose yourself you can cause serious liver damage, or kidney failure.
if the pain is too much, or long lasting, you need to see your doctor. this may not be a simple headache.

According to my Dr you can take up 800mg per day. No more than that. If that means taking 4 pills at a time, that's fine. Just be sure not to go over 800mg in a 24 hour period or you'll mess up your stomach, liver, and kidneys.
