DZE, science textbooks usually have multiple authors as well as many editors. They also tend to be written by experts in the field. The heart of my question is really why does there seem to be mistrust of scientists.

They are not looking for answers. They seek only affirmation.
(excellent question BTW)

It starts when you are young. Momy and Dady say it's true so it is true. (or false in the case of evolution) You grow up being forced into church where other people you may have some respect for believe the same garbage. You are also told if you don't believe in it you will be in pain for eternity. So eventually it just kinda sticks and you've built up a mental block to anything factual that might go against what you've been told all your life. You "know" all the answers so you can't possible believe a text book is correct, but you'll surely believe a perfect stranger on line that says anything that goes along with your twisted perception of reality.

It's all about persuasion. The asker on either side of the evolutionary/creationist debate is generally trying to persuade someone that they're right. It's politics and it's pandering. Who is right? Who has more people posting right on, sister/brother answers? Who can crack the most wise?
Of course, there are the few out there who want to know more about the actual processes themselves, but they're rare.

Text books can't be offended, react, and argue. It would be too much work. Might find out that there is some truth but not enough to negate God. Internet addiction? Too much fun rehashing the same questions over and over. Can't troll in a text book can you?

th best approach is to take no one source as absolute truth and search it out for urself .. just because the majority of the herd buys evolution doesnt mean i accept it ... i dont see the proof in it ..

The only proof they'll accept is if all the skeletons are laid end to end going back to the beginning of time. Of course, they'll say we just made it all up.

The textbooks didn't help me, once I had found that most of it wasn't true. (Case for a Creator~ Lee Strobel). So why can't someone here help?

By that same logic, why isn't a Bible good enough, but a Yahoo answerer might be?

because they need more than a text book-in fact, they NEED more than yahoo answers. They need Christ, because evolution simply isnt real. it's not even prooved.
Much love in Christ
