Yes, however, people die in plane crashes every day too, you just dont hear about it becase when its not a commercial flight, its only local news... anyway, its much safer than driving, especially when you are flying on an airline flight with extremely experienced and professional pilots

Ok, 90% of the pilots are not ex-military. It used to be that way, but the military just doesn't produce those kinds of numbers anymore. It is really closer to 50/50 now. I have flown with a few ex-military pilots and I can tell you that the civilian trained pilots are just as qualified and competent as the military ones.
It doesn't really matter anyway, no pilot is going to fly an airplane that is unsafe. We all have families that we want to go home to at the end of the day (or end of the trip).

Ok...90....something % of pilots, on a commercial jet, are ex-military pilots. This is not to discredit civilian pilots...my husband is one. The point I am trying to make is this.....pilots who fly for the "airlines", i.e. Usair, Continental, Delta, United, etc. are more than qualified to fly the aircraft you are flying on. Do you honestly think they would fly a plane that was not safe?
They are in "the same plane you are"!
Stop and think about it.
