No, you can't get papers if they didn't have them to begin with, at least from the AKC. There are a bunch of sham companies that will register your dog though. "Papers By Bob" LOL

my, my, my how uninformed you bunch are! There are more groups than the AKC that offer papers for your dog, there's the National Stockdog Registry, Working Cowdog, and more. There are reasons some certain breeds and breeders do not want any part of the AKC, the AKC sets standards that are sometimes detrimental to the breed. If you look at the Australian Shepard, the AKC is indirectly responsible for breeding the dog down (taking the herding instinct out of the dog so that it'll behave better in the ring) You almost can't get a better quality German Shepard without going to an European breeder. There are too many other examples to write about here.
I have McNabs, THE smartest breed of dog there is, he is not AKC and I can still get $1500. for a started dog. A dog doesn't have to have papers to be worth any amount, My Aussie is a Rescue (Aussie Rescue of Southern California) he's neutered, no reason to have papers, but he's also more handsome than 3/4 of the AKC Aussies I've run across.
Additionally, there are new laws being written that will make it against the Law to have an un-altered animal. So, what's a dog worth???? How about trying to measure all the love it's going to give you and then put a price on it.

A dog can only be "papered" if both of the parent are. As far as how much a dog is worth-that depends on the breed. You cannot prove that a dog is a purebred if it is not papered-but sometimes unpapered designer breeds are worth more than purebreds...Its all about the demand of that type of do at the time. A papered dog usually is sold with health and temperment guarentees, and can be shown-this is why they cost more, also they are bred (usually) with the intention of improving the breed and maintaining health and temperment, many unpapered dogs come from backyard breeders, this is why people are willing to pay more for papered dogs.

Ok trying to make out what you said by that sentence, are keeping the pup for money purpose or selling? If you do sell you can get a basic idea if you do a google search on the breed to see how much people are selling them for, without papers it really doesn't state that he is a full breed dog. I would be leary in purchasing a dog without akc papers. Hope this helped

None of my dogs have papers. Very few that I have ever owned ever did and I never registered any of them with the AKC. My dogs are work dogs and I could care less about papers. Here, in America, papers are a big deal, in Europe people could care less if they interested in working dogs. A good dog is a good dog, papers or no papers. Example, my lab without papers is worth about $7000 as a bomb dog. My shepherd as a bomb/patrol dog is worth about $10.000 again, no papers. You get the idea.

A dog is worth as much as u want to pay for it. Without papers should lower the price some. I have bred labs in the past and we sold the pure bred pups with no papers for $150 for the blacks and $175 for the yellow ones. Neither of the parents that we used to breed were papered. We recently paid $180 for a pure bred german shepherd with no papers. You can get papers for them, my step-uncle papered one of my litter pups through the AKC. All he had to do was take different "poses" (not exactly sure which ones) and send the pics to the AKC and the money for processing and he papered a pure bred lab that previously had no papers. So dont let ppl tell u that u cant do it. :)

Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it when the seller want to sell it.

And no, you can't get legitimate papers unless you get them from the breeder. IN any event, get the dog spayed or neutered.... what we don't need is more dogs. 5 million are euthanized every year in this country.... purebreds as well as mutts.

it will be worth gold but only to an owner who loves it. you can not get papers without proof that the parents were registered. I think there also may be a time limit to paper a litter.

The price would depend on the dog breed.
Yes it is worth less if its not AKC registered.

What you have is a pure breed pup with out kennel papers. The worth of the dog depends on what breed it is.
For example: Golden Retriever w/papers $1,200.00 without papers $600.00.
