I've found that my eyes are not very tolerant of contact lenses as they age and I have to throw them away a little earlier than the literature suggests. A "year's supply," even of some of the nicer brands, usually only lasts me 8 or 9 months.

Does that mean that I have to go in for fittings every 8 months?

I guess I just don't understand whether you "use up" your prescription by ordering lenses or whether you can keep ordering them as needed throughout the prescription period. It'd be great to be just be able to order boxes in the quantity I actually use them... better still to be able to say "ok, I ran out of lenses, order me another 6 months worth" up to the very day when my prescription expires.

Anyone know how this works?

A prescription is good for one year - no matter how many lenses you go through, but you may find that your insurance will only cover "a year's supply"

Generally the script is valid for one year but you may want to check with you eye doctor. The validation period is determined at their discretion.
Also you may want to look into getting a different contact lens, because you are using a supply too quickly. Or you may want to see if you have a condition known as Dry Eye Syndrome. You can use artificial tears with your contact lenses and see if this helps with some of the discomfort your experiencing.(visine tears, refresh tears, etc.) If the use of tears doesn't help you may want to contact you doctor about the use of punctal plugs. This is a common procedure for severe dry eye sufferers. It's very simple and painless. In fact I have had this done myself. They insert a "plug" into your lower tear duct to help your eye hold on to their natural tears. You may also want to try Restasis(prescription required) if you don't want to try the plugs. Although I'm not sure you can use Restasis while wearing contact lenses.

It appears like anybody Photoshopped a photograph of a few chick's eye they seem that unhealthy. It's simply quite, quite cheesy and they might typically make you seem dull, until you had been dressed in them to a couple variety of rave or significant occasion wherein every person's prime as a kite so they might typically feel they had been going nuts or on a lame acid commute. They're unsightly. Ugly as sin. If you do not want contacts, do not get them (even though you do want contacts, do not get them). Plus, the ones are REALLY low cost and so they would typically aggravate the hell from your eyes.

I just went through this with my son at college. The script is good for one year.
