i am 15 years old, not very active (walking about 2-3 times a week) i go to school and im all over the place because there are about 4 different buildings. I weight 160 pounds(last time i checked i did) and i am 5'5, i have a fair bit of pudge around my legs, arms, and tummy(maybe my chin too, turns into a double when i smile and dip my head down). i need a few things that i could do daily or that im already doing that will help me burn more than 1400 calories since im on a 1400 calorie a day diet. I need to burn more than i intake right? So, what are some other ways to burn more than 1400 calories a day? (BTW:i have a jumprope and i live in a large neighborhood, i just need to know exact numbers on how much i am losing.) Please help me figure this out!!

You do not necessarily need to burn more than you take in. You must "burn" (or lose, in whatever manner) 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. 1 pound of weight gain comes from consuming 3500 calories.
I am the same height as you and weight 100lbs. I never exercise, but I am a strict vegan (no meat, no dairy, no eggs), and I only eat maybe 700 calories a day. When I want to lose weight, I eat raw food only... that is, uncooked fruit and vegetables. I find that this works extremely well for me. You really can't go wrong with being a raw vegan. Considering you are 5 years younger than me, if you do it the right away, a raw diet could potentially make you lose a lot of weight. You should always exercise, however, if you want to lose even more, I strongly suggest this. Most people would say this is not a good route; I hear a lot about this 2000 calories a day but it sounds pretty extreme for a girl of your height. If you're eating meat, you can easily get 1400-2000+ calories a day. If you're eating only raw or fruit and vegetables, it's almost impossible to go that high in calories. I know many vegans who were pudgy in the past, some rightout fat, and they are very thin now. And the healthiest people I know.
I'm assuming that with this Basal Metabolic Rate, if yours is 1400, by eating only 700 or so, that's 700 you didn't eat. In 5 days, that is 3500 calories and 1 pound lost, without exercise.
I would say, reduce your calorie intake a bit more. Eat more fruit and vegetables, less starchy foods and less high-fat meat and exercise half an hour a day. Try a calculator online that tells you how many calories are burned during exercise (search 'calories burned exercise').

It's dangerous to be burning that much with that low amount of calories. Swimmers, bikers, runners, athelets they all burn high amounts of calories and are healthy but that is because they eat more food then 2000 calories. The body needs 1000 just to survive, so eat 1500, and burn 500 a day, you will lose 1 pound a week, that is good.

Remember, you do burn calories just being alive. You don't have to do 1500 calories worth of exercise (which is a lot of exercise).
The amount of calories you burn just keeping your body alive (breathing in and out, your heart beat, etc.) Is called your Basal Metabolic Rate.
There is a calculator for this here:
http://health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.html
For a 15 year old girl, who weighs 160 lbs and is 5'5" your BMR is 1578.4
So you see, you actually burn 1500 calories without any exercise at all.
Now, in order to lose weight, you have to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound. So if you want to lose a pound a week, you have to burn 500 calories a day.
So what you really want to do is 500 calories of exercise. Probably about 40 minutes of aerobic exercise would do that. So if you can go swimming for 40 minutes, or jogging for 40 minutes, that would do the trick.
Or you could do 10 minutes of dancing, 10 minutes of jogging, 20 minutes of basketball. Whatever. Just 40 minutes of exercise that gets your heart pumping.

you only need to cause a caloric deficit of around 500 calories a day. you don't lose weight by burning all of the calories that you consume, that's how you burn up muscle and the body will hold on to fat stores and you will get fatter...
