Well, there's the common belief that they aren't getting something at home, so they go out to get it. This lacking in their relationship could be emotional relations or sexual relations and such. These also define the basis of the affair they have, ie emotional affair/sexual affair. This can sometimes be the reason. Although, this in NO WAY justifies such a horrible thing.
Other possibilites include the cheater himself, and his own sense of self-worth etc. Sometimes men as young boys get stuck in a stage of their development. Some men, believe it or not, are just needy and demanding, and perhaps that's why their relationships are not sufficient, so they have affairs. Also, some men are just plain promiscuous and constantly need sexual stimulation, and seek it elswhere if their partner cannot keep up with their demands. Promiscuous men may have been molested as children, or maybe they just have a huge appetite. Also, sometimes when men find women that they feel they can easily manipulate to be their partners, they think affairs become easy. That's all I can think of for now.
And of course, this can just as easily be applied to women who cheat.

Not all men cheat just like all women don't cheat it depends on the individual. Cheating never comes to a good end unfortunately some people learn that the hard way

Men don't cheat, idiots cheat. There is a certain type of person that has the will to cheat, it is not the guys who care about a girl and actually would like to be with them just to talk. Its guys who make out with girls constantly, and flirt non-stop. They cheat because they don't care.

Men are pigs.Thats the theory I have always believed in. I mean think about it even the famous, beautiful women get cheated on. and sometimes they will have some model and cheat on her for someone who is ugly as hell. even if a guy get's along with his girlfriend/ wife and she is beautiful and everything he will still cheat on her. I think it's some stupid male eago they all have. its like a goal they have in life or something to at least cheat on someone once in their life. wiser 1 is right women cheat too.

Not only men cheat, some women do too and all cheat because they dont truly appreciate what they have

The same reason women do, because they think they will get away with it.
The only difference is women are very sneaky and excellent liars because of constant practise, so they do get away with it. Whereas men are idiots and get caught out ever time.
