Yes, looks are very important, can't deny it. There are many standards of beauty that most of the population would find attractive.
The distinction to make, though, is that what YOU find attractive. In a relationship, you have to feel attraction to your partner. For example, a friend of mine is married to a VERY average-looking guy, but she finds him very attractive.
Not all of my previous partners have been drop-dead gorgeous. The most average guy could be attractive to a number of women. So the old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is indeed true.

No.. women are not shallow the way men are. Its just that we often assume that attractive men are also good in other ways, like confidence and experience. However, an ugly man with great other qualities can still be very attractive... he just wont get the same opportunities to prove himself that a handsom guy will. Its not fair but thats how it is.

I would say not correct there is something different about everyone in the world, and it means there are people who will love people for who they are on the inside rather then what they look in the outside. Alot of people may only look for looks or money but alot also look at personalities, family, senses of humor and other qualities that make up a person besides looks.

No, they are not. But feel free to keep telling yourself that, if it makes you feel better. And if you really do believe that looks matter to women then don't stop chasing after the shallow women that you are trying to date. You all deserve each other.

Well for some women looks really don't matter and what they are looking for is personality, finacial security, and a mental attraction. I had one girl tell me I was very cute, but she was not attracted to my personality and did not feel a mental connection to me.

i wish looks didnt matter, but to me they dont. i dont care about clothes or looks.
