The brown skin issue seems to be the problem here. Maybe all the pure caucasians would like to take over the jobs currently held by those you dislike so much. Maybe a stint as a dishwasher, gardener, busboy, waiter, trash collector, cabana boy, messenger, delivery boy, street sweeper, cesspool cleaner, plumber and all the rest of the decent although not dignified jobs, might change their mind. For years your government and mine turned a deaf ear on a problem that has been around since the second world war. Now that is has reached epic proportions Americans have suddenly become aware, but it never seemed to bother their conscience before, the cheap wages paid to these people, the lack of social security, of having them labor in sweatshops, of being constantly threatened with the immigration inspectors and deportation made them easy targets for abusing them all the while filling fat pockets for many Americans who thought only of their monetary gain based on the work of disposable people.

Don't you think we Mexicans hate the problem as much as you do? Who wants to live in a country that is unable to offer you a dignified life, a job that will allow you to live well, a stable one at that, opportunities for your children, a stable political system. Not only do the poor people travel to the USA, we have a nonstop exodus of extremely intelligent, well educated people who are able to do wonderful things anywhere else than their home country.

Immigration has many faces, conveniently it is fashionable to point a finger at it without considering the reasons that created it and the reasons that allowed it to continue unchecked.

They say 12 - 20 million. Personally I think it's alot more. The numbers just don't add up when you look at the influx in big cities and what they say cross the border every-day. Maybe 12-20 in the last few years......but they haven't bothered keeping track of anyone since the last amnesty. Not to mention whether or not that includes children, their spouses or other relatives. Every illegal crossing the border isn't working and they keep saying 12-20 illegal workers....well add kids and wives and everything else and a much larger number seems more accurate. We've still got illegals from before the last amnesty who never got legal. I would really like to see an honest count myself. That is if there's a way to do it.

about 7 million per the Pew Hispanic center, but that was a couple years back, and is at the conservative end of the number range in any event. The government says about half of all Mexican nationals here are illegally here.

And there are 12 million to 20 million illegals here from whereever. 12 million is a projection of Pew's numbers, 20 million was a Bears Sterns estimate.

About 14-16 million. And many may say its not a Mexican issue. well not completely but Mexican illegal immigrants make up more than 50% of all illegal immigrants. LIkely as much as 60-65%.
Now thats a problem.

1. Why are you saying Mexicans and not addressing the issue as a whole? (Which the issue pertains to many races not just mexican.)

2. More than we will ever know.

The question should be "How many illegal aliens are in the U.S...."

Waaay tooo many!

One is too many. If we allow a single Ukrainian to stay illegally, that's just too many. It's like allowing one person to steal food while charities are lining up to help feed the hungry.

Let the laws currently on the books be enforced. No industrialized country can afford to ignore the legal framework that allows its economy to succeed. Ignoring it instead of enforcing it will result in economic and social collapse. Now, how will that help any poor person at all?

See the yellow and blue chart at the top of this linked page:
http://www.forestinfo.org/Discover/population.htm

How will the immense demand (just basic human need) of those in yellow survive if they don't drastically reduce their numbers? (by attrition, of course)

Yeah, it seems most people only have a problem with immigrants when they are brown, but in 80's and 90's when we had thousands of eastern Europeans coming in due to war communism, etc, no one seemed to care...Do you actually know any Mexican people personally? Their culture or values? I live in San Diego and am approached about a dozen times daily by panhandlers who've all been white 20 something- middle aged males, and I have been to Baja on a few occasions, yet I have never come across a panhandler in Mexico. Interesting.
