Well, it depends ... are you wanting to work in U.S. but maintain residence in Canada, or move to the U.S. to both live and work?

In either case you will need to apply for a work visa, but it's a bit different process for the first instance than the second. Also, if you want to move to the U.S., you could apply for permanent residency, not just a work visa. A work visa only allows you to work for the current employer.
