It happens when she's in a deep sleep and she's not even aware it has happened. Does this normally happen with older dogs?

Steps I have taken:
1. Consulted 3 vets- unable to answer my
questions. Or offer suggestions.
2. Wake her up periodically. Which has
helped while I'm home.
3. Tried doggie diapers.

Scernario:
1. Live in Bangkok, Thailand
2. Can't leave dogs outside when I'm not
not home because of the heat.
3. Have doggie door.
4. Animal medications are very limited here.
They don't even sell flea collars or double
coated brushes.
What else can I do to stop this from happening?

The best is to medicate with Proin. You may want to research you maybe able to get some.

I know this sounds crazy can you get a hold of an American vet by phone or Internet and ask what you can do. Maybe do not give the dog water after a certain time in the evening before bedtime. You might try the doggie diapers. How long as she done this? You may just have to keep waking her up and getting her outside.

Yes this is common for older dogs.

No, there is not much you can do, i have asked all many a veterinarian and they cannot give me an answer.

Just make the dog comfortable, its a normal part of aging.

Perhaps put down those puppy-training pads down where the dog sleeps? That's their only real use anyway.

I don't think doggie diapers are designed for incontinence, those that i have seen have been for females in heat.

Unfortunately living abroad has given you a lot of limitations for helping your dog. There is medication that may help your dog if it's really incontinence. It's called phenylpropanolimine (Proin 50). I'm not sure about this one, but a lot of the same medications used in animals can be gotten at pharmacies for human medications. Also, if you can offer your local vet the information you may be able to convince them to give you a prescription for one of those mail order veterinary pharmaceutical companies.

The other option is surgery, but I'm not sure I would opt for that based on the information you've given. I wouldn't trust a vet who didn't offer any options at all to open my dog up.

It is very possible that your dog has a bladder or a kidney infection. Unless your dog is a giant like a Dane or St. Bernard then it is only middle aged, not very old. Try another vet. The only cure for that type of infection is the right medication. If you can find someone that can prescribe for you, you might be able to order it on the Internet.
Good Luck

Feel along the spine for any sensitivity, it could actually be a spinal deformation or injury! A kidney and bladder infections often cause little or no pee quite the opposite effect you see, but sometimes In rare occasions they, might cause the muscles to slacken during sleep, as they do in death (no i do not believe your dog will die but it could be serious)
A bit more information would be helpful:
1. How much does your dog way
2. Have they had any illness or broken bones before
3. vomiting?
4. Dehydrate easily?
5. are they fixed
There are tons of possibilities, but just incase its something serious treat them like royalty!

Sure it occurs alot in older puppies.. Limit her fluids... However to not the factor where she gets dehyrated.. I might present water in the morning.. And around noon... And only a tiny bit in the night.. There's a treatment right here.. But i might ought to verify and notice what it's.. And then you definitely could see if its even to be had there.. The muscle tissues in the bladder emerge as weak with old age.. Causing the problems your canine is having.. What style of dog is it?

I think doggie diapers are the best choice, but next to that, I would buy a bed for your dog, and coat it in plastic, like the kind that your couch cushions come in, so that it has it's own bed, and so that it's easy to clean. that or just be sure it always goes to sleep in one of your bathrooms so that it is on tile... easy to clean up... I know it's a lot of cleaning, but the poor pup can't help it.

If vets haven't been able to find a medical cause that can be treated, then doggie diapers are your best solution. If you can't get them locally, order online and stock up.
