Psychologists and psychiatrists have made tests for just about every condition possible. They are available on line in condensed versions and so forth. However, if you want to be properly tested for depression you should consult a doctor and ask for a referral to a specialist.
However, before you do this, it is a good idea to think about whether or not you match the criteria for a depressed person. According to the DSM-V, to be classified as a depressed person must be either feeling depressed or exhibiting Anhedonia (which is the inability to experience pleasure from events which usually cause pleasurable, like eating, exercise, and social and sexual interactions). You must also exhibit at least five of the other symptoms for two weeks or more. The symptoms are:
feelings of sadness, fear or emotion
seeming to be unable to feel emotion
decrease in interest in pleasurable activities
apatite/weight change
disturbed sleep patters (loss of REM sleep, hypersomnia or insomnia)
retardation
fatigue
feelings of guilt, nervousness, hopelessness, worthlessness, isolation of anxiety, etc.
slowing in cognition and memory
recurrent death thoughts – suicidal thoughts
fear of abandonment

If this is you, see a doctor immediately!

The only tests there are that I know of are questionaires. Doctors use these test to evaluate your state of mind and how you are feeling. If you feel you are depressed, you probably are and need to speak to someone. If you have bouts of sadness lasting longer than two weeks at a time, you should be evaluted. Go talk to a doctor. Good luck. God bless.

NAMI , (if I recall correctly) stands for the National Institite of Mental Health. Another one is JAMI (I think) (I could be off on the spelling)

Type Depression or Mental Health into your home page and press search. Look for one of these organizations. From time to time there is a published TEST for DEPRESSION in magazines, and I believe I have seen it online also.

For nearly 20 yrs. I functioned at a slowed capacity, thinking it was "just me - how I operate" I did not think of myself as SAD , frustrated maybe, but certainly not depressed. It took a few months of convincing from a counselor ( I had come in with impaired emotions and skills from my normal range) I truly couldn't see myself as Depressed.
