I think he just said that out of frustration. And he was hurt and upset that all the Jr fans were booing him and flipping him off every time he drove past when he did nothing wrong at all.
But he still has the fire inside him and I can't see him retiring any time in the near future.

Tony's not quitting anything but I do wish he would quit whining so much. He is good for NASCAR because of the added controversy he brings.
for nascar_driver_eight: There is a reason you have no best answers as they are NOT very accurate. Dale Jr has been in the cup series full time since 2000, for 7 seasons. During that span he has finished OUT of the top 10 three times (NOT just once). He was 16th in 2000, 11th in 2002 and 19th in 2005.

Why do people always ask "Hey whats up with this guy or that guy" Any of you people ever been in a wreck going 160-185 mph ? Or trying to win a race the one thing you truly love which also pays the bills ? Probably not. Tony quitting, yeah right and the sun will stop shining. Oh and by the way the idiots that think Dale Jr. is over rated, Two busch championships in a row. And he's been top ten in points every year but one. And as for control of DEI, the guy wants control of the shop which builds the cars he drives.

Oh don't worry, Tony is NOT going to quit any time soon. Tony Stewart has so much talent and skill, I'd be very sad to see him go if he ever quit. He has the passion and desire to win, and has amazing driving skills to go with it. That is how he's won two Nextel championships and countless other awards and championships in other race forms. He is upset right now because of his lack of wins, but I see plenty of wins in his future. After all, he's Tony Stewart. He is the man that has been racing since he was 7! He was the man who can gain 10 whole positions in one turn in the track! He is the one who has won at some huge tracks like the Indy 500. He is the man!! I can't wait to see that 20 car lead the way again at future races...because Tony belongs up front!!

Smoke has always had a million dollars worth of talent. He only had a two buck brain early on. He has matured quite a bit, and that is why he can dominate a race so consistently. He now has a brain worthy of his talent. Frustration is part of the game, and he is honest enough to voice his feelings. He will be around for many years to come.

He wont quit racing. He might quit NASCAR if it isnt fun anymore in a few years so that he can go race for fun in sprint cars. He also said his goal is to win the Indy 500.

Nothing is up with Tony. He is being himself and showing a little emotion and that is what I love about him. It makes him real and not a robot like most of the other guys.
He was just frustrated when he said that and he has said numerous times since then that he has no intention of retiring until at least 2009.

Tony won't quit racing until they peel him out of a car. He is a fierce competitor who still races dirt cars just for fun. And no, he will never be a "whinny, pansy boy" like Jeff Gordon.

hahaha where do you get that from? I listened to Tony Stewart live last night and didn't hear anything about him wanting to quit... Also he said he won't be holding any grudges against montoya and that the contact between them was both their fault
