I owe a C-30 1 ton gmc 1986 with a 350 motor... serial colde "M". I was told that this motor is unique to this perticuliar model... Is that true and if not what other motor could I use ?
Thanks

Rebuilding this engine would cost more than the cost of the truck.... Swapping motors seems more the least expensive solution... This truck is for work not any kind of showroom project

Your were told that because it's a 4 bolt main block. I have not run into that problem. Is the engine unable to be rebuilt?

"M" equals Mexico. the chevy small block engine has been around since the fifties. it has gone thru several minor evolutions and cubic displacement enhancements. if you are able to find a suitable replacement engine or purchase a create engine there will be some minor components that will have to be transferred from the old unit to the new. if you decide to search for a used unit go to your local salvage yard, they will have an interchange book which will assist you during your search. Good luck...
