How about believing in both? Like anything, one has to separate the wheat from the chaff, being careful to not swallow everything that you read. Your litmus test for rational science should be the bible. I believe that there is no conflict between true scientific discourse and the bible. There is plenty of scientific rhetoric out there (esp. in this forum), that you should carefully evaluate.
This does not mean science could not examine and study what religion does, only that it cannot do what religion does.

Dear high c,
If you will really study the Bible (relying on God who has wisdom) you will find that the world is 13,018 years old. God wrote the Bible and hid within it much knowledge. But many people scoff at the Bible and mock it. God set up everything! He made the clelestial clock by which man measures time.
He created every living organism. Even the simplest cell is a magnificent operating system that utilizes energy from carbon. Replicates it's DNA to reproduce. And so many marvelous biochemical reactions take place in this little cell. The cell membrane is a marvelous "gate" that ensures the integrity of the cell while allowing beneficial molecules to enter and discarding toxic metabolic substances.
When you thing about it, all organisms have fundamental structures responsible for the well-being of the organism. However, having these structures does not suggest a common ancester! It simply means that all life has certain requirements to continue and these requirements are met through similar structures. All cars need tires but having tires does not mean they all came from 1 car.
Only God could build such a complex world with various living creatures to show us His great creativity. True science will always support the Bible.

When we properrly understand both science and the Bible, there should be no contradiction. Many times the Bible was misunderstood, putting Christianity into unnecessary conflict with science.
On the other hand, science keeps changing what is "final." In the 1930's it was thought that the atom was the smallest, undivisible unit of matter; now we know better.
Don't look for the either/or answer. Look for how they are both right.
Science, BTW, is a religion just as much as Christianity or Islam, or Buddhism, etc. Science accepts certian axioms which are unprovable and build on those for what we know as "the scientific model," or the modern "medical model." When someone is sick, or something breaks, we look for ways to "fix" them, not undrstanding the presumptions behind the "fix."

I believe in God. I think that the Bible is true when it says that God created the earth and man and everything else. God has never or never will be wrong. Science has been wrong and right. But the chances of science being wrong are so much larger that the chances of God Holy Word to be wrong. Think about all the times science has been wrong, margarines better for you, no butters better. Thats one of the many times that science has corrected and changed it answers. But the Bible has never been wrong.
Hope it helps!!!! May God Bless!

"what about all the science that confirms what the bible says?" - adam
There IS NO science that cornfirms the bible. And even as an athiest, I'll admit that my belief is depressing and yeah, it does suck.
I'm sure it comforts alot of you religious people know that you'll be reborn in a new life after this one to be with your family and friends forever in this wonderful place, and thats really cute and I bet that makes you feel good to help you get through another day. But there is no proof of god's existence. There's more proof against god's existence.
It sucks. I wish we would go to heaven, and I wish you religious people were right, but come on. I've come to face that this just isnt true.
Religion only starts wars and kills innocent people. People should live as people themselves, not under the dictatorship of their imaginary friend.
If you want to live your life following a bunch of fairy tales that limit what you can do with your life, go on ahead. I'm living as a human being with no boundaries.

True Science parallels with God.
Evolution is just one of the theories which is not agreeing with the Bible but many scientific facts does.
The earth is a sphere/globe.
The leveret is a chewer of the cud.
The earth hangs upon nothing.
The earth is not the center of the universe and many more.

I believe in God AND science. I reject the Bible, though. I see nothing that supports the Bible as the word of God, except the Bible itself.

Believing in God does not necessarily mean belief in the flawed man-made Bible. I believe in both God and science.....what I don't believe in is religion.

Who says believe in one or the other? God could use science to carry out his will. Don't persume to know the will of God, I think he's a bit smarter than all of us put together.
