okay so, recently my grades in school have been slipping, but i actually tried hard, but school is getting tougher at my age. i actually do feel really stressed out...like seriously. they're threatening to take away my phone, but having my phone isnt even the problem. its not like i talk on it for hours everyday. i use it mainly to call them to tell them im staying after school for some activity. as matter of fact, i have 1000 minutes a month and i only use about 30 minutes...i dont even enjoy talking on the phone. but still, what if there's an emergency. what am i gonna do? ive actually needed my phone for emergencies before....my phone even has my alarm clock which wakes me up 6 o'clock every morning...i would get an online alarm, but those make my heart beat really fast and i heard that's not good, so im trying not to use those...and being late to class deducts points from my grade. so what do i say to them to convince them to let me keep my phone????

I DID THE SAME THING TO MY SON. YOU EARN IT. IF YOU ARE DOING BAD IN SCHOOL THEN YOU DON'T DESERVE IT. YOU NEED TO EARN IT BACK. I KNOW ITS TOUGH BUT YOU NEED TO BUCKLE DOWN AND WORK HARDER. IF YOU DO THEN YOU WILL HAVE EARNED THE LUXURY OF YOUR PHONE.

I guess you have tried telling them all this before and they would not listen. They are concern about your welfare and wants to see you do well. If they feel that that is the problem then give up the phone. You can use a phone booth and set your television to wake you up on mornings. If for some reason you can't get to a phone to call them then you would not be able to. If they asked why you didn't call, just tell them that you had no access to a phone. They would be worried sick not hearing from you. This should make them rethink their decision. Try traveling with a friend that would be able to help in case of an emergency.
Try and get your grades up. Education is the key to success. I can understand that it is hard for you but it is hard for others too. Others have also done it before. Just focus on your work. Do not wait until the last minute to do your assignments because you will be stressed out trying to reach the deadline. Work on them early. For each hour of lecture you should at least study for three hours. I hope this helps.

Spend as much time on your school work as you did on trying to persuade complete strangers that you should be able to keep your phone and you might get somewhere.
Or suggest a better punishment like asking them to take away the thing that you love the most instead - like maybe the activities you are staying after school for? or the Internet?
Doesn't sound as fun does it? But you'll get to keep your phone and wake up on time for class. :o)
Suggesting a better punishment will show maturity and will actually help motivate you to improve your grades. :o) Don't whine when your parents take the suggestion and hold you to it.
They probably wanted to take away your phone, because it's an easier punishment for them to carry out than keeping you from activities and such. More responsibility for them. :o)
Parents - gotta love 'em! :o)

You can live without a phone. We all did before cell's were invented.Get those grades up, you can get a job without a phone, but you cant without a degree. As far as alarms go, get a radio alarm clock with radio and/or a beeper. As far as a rape goes, if a guy is raping you, chances are he isnt going to wait fisrt while you call 911.Itll only help you afterwards and chances are he will destroy it if he sees it.

WOW! When I was in high school they had a phone in the office and a couple of pay phones in the hall! Buy an alarm clock, you know those things you set on your nightstand. Please don't tell me you are spazin out this bad when you only use the phone 30 mins/month! Stop making excuses, get your grades up, grow up, get a job and buy your own phone!

Talk to them. Point out the minutes used on the phone, point out WHO gets called and calls you.
However if you text like crazy they will have record of that as well and have every right to take your phone away if you text like that.
Mention the reasons you think your grades are slipping.
If you talk to them (NOT lie to them) you will get more respect and more of a response from them.
However if they still take away your phone you will have to respect that and work real hard to keep your grades up.

$744? You say "your" phone. Who is going to pay the bill? Whose credit does it go against if it is not paid? I have three kids 27, 22 & 16 and I know one conversation about cell phones is watching the minutes. You abused the privilege my friend.

dont listen to these people.....they grew up in different time than us...
Tell them just like you told us.....
Make them think you need it for safety reasons (which is true) if they still dont, ask them to take away txt messaging and what not.......
Just let them know that you really need the phone to talk to them
