No Jehovah's Witness would ever accept any unscriptural teaching, no matter from where it originated.

Yet, this "question" is an interesting one, because there actually is past precedent for similar instances of comparable supposed "new light".

In the 1950's, government agents in some countries convincingly pretended to allow Jehovah's Witnesses to transmit Watchtower articles for local translating and printing, while secretly intercepting and inserting teachings the governments preferred. Local Witnesses quickly grew disturbed at what seemed to be plainly unscriptural teachings. Time and again, completely without direction from "Brooklyn", seemingly unsophisticated local brothers worked to "translate around" and essentially ignore teachings which they could not conscientiously forward to their brothers.

In some provinces, local elders came to believe that Jehovah's Witnesses in NY had abandoned the pure truth, so the organizations in these countries severed the supposed "lifeline" to Brooklyn, and for DECADES happily continued to preach and teach and hold meetings using only the bible and bible study tools with which they were comfortable. In the late 1980's, it became possible to reconcile thousands of faithful Witnesses when these received the evidence that Jehovah's Witnesses had never actually foisted any unscriptural teachings upon anyone.

Very confident in our current understanding of the bible.
Are current beliefs are biblically based while the past beliefs that we abandoned were mostly man made doctrines and teachings of the religions the earlier Jehovah's Witnesses had belonged to before studying the bible for themselves. Still are understanding continues to grow. Like mentioned above every Jehovah's Witness is encouraged to prove the truth for themselves by studying the scriptures daily.

Well for one thing, when something is altered, it is more or less, moving our line of thinking a little to the left or right, so to speak. Most of the things we have changed in our understandings have been unBiblical. It is reminicent of Blood Transfusions. Many have said, We now accept Blood, that we have turned back on our beliefs. This is not the case. As time goes on, more and more scientific knowledge is gained. As this happens more research is needed. The same with the Bible. We are not going to stop obeying the Bible. As time goes by it at times becomes appearant that we can do more to closely follow the Bible. Jesus' disciples constantly needed to rethink things to be in harmony with him.

The logic of JW enthusiasm for "new light" means that because they think "that day" is getting nearer (so daylight is breaking forth - 2 Peter 1:19) there must, of necessity, be more and more "new light". If there wasn't, they'd be worried. They believe their leaders are in communication with God, who is revealing his plans to them. Armageddon is imminent, so they expect to know things nobody else has heard of. Their leaders do not disappoint them.

It's a fabulous claim that the only doctrinal changes they admit to being wrong were very old ones that were originally what the Churches' believed (in the late 1800s). Shortly before the year 2000 their leaders changed their unique teaching that the sheep were being separated from the goats from 1919 onwards. "Not so" they admitted. "This is still future." They also changed their adamant claim that the generation that was alive to see 1914 would be the generation alive to see Armageddon. They have also recently changed their teaching on Christ's visible coming (future). It used to be very different to orthodox Church teaching, but now it sounds remarkably similar.

Those are not examples of "new light", but of the light being switched on and off.

Let's put it this way: Every time a "Questions from Readers" comes out in the Watchtower, it's the first thing I read, looking for perhaps new information, better understanding. And if there is new information, I immediately go to the Scriptures and check it for myself and pray for understanding.

I don't think that deeper understanding of scriptures should be rejected because it's "new." I am proud of belonging to a progressive organization, and I do my best, through prayer and study, to keep up with our ever-changing understanding of "the deep things of God." I hope that I never become self-complacent or that my faith will become stagnant.

To answer your question more precisely: I am very confident in our current beliefs because I have personally checked them for myself. But I am always open to a better understanding and I would welcome it.

particular. That brings us closer to the reality. various religions have encyclopedias that admit the trinity and holiday journeys like Christmas are incorrect, yet they nonetheless prepare paganism. look! Unsliced Ham strikes lower back! With Pedi C close at the back of. is this an apostate reunion or what? The trinity is polytheistic. In it, there's a completely God the daddy, a completely God the Son, and a completely God the holy spirit. count selection the gods. I count selection 3. How approximately you? in case you count selection ONE God, then your perception relies, no longer on the Bible, yet on the Catholic Athanasian Creed, which says: "the daddy is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they do no longer look to be 3 Gods, yet One God."
