ts confusing to me how people try and disprove Mormons like its bad or evil. Especially when they(the criticism) belong to Catholicism or something like it. Mormons are good people, with a nice religion. They are not raping your children or even criticising you. You are not going to prove its wrong, just like god or any other religion. Chances are its wrong, chances are god doesn't exist. Let people believe what they want, especially if they are good people that only make the world a better place. Catholics on the other hand hurt the world, why not make a hate goal against them instead of mormons? And one more thing, why the hell do so many STUPID christians go against mormonism likes its their goal in life? Do you not realize you are contradicting your own beliefs? Idiots. Just for the record, I grew up mormon but have not believed in a personal god since I was around 15.

This is for the blonde: I was never debating that the religion was right or wrong. Give all your arguments against the mormon religion and I will give mine against God. I promise I will win the argument. I think the religion is wrong, 99.9% positive, just as I am with god.
I am standing up for the religion because it is my background. My 3 best friends are on LDS missions as we speak. I guess I just feel the need to educate the stupid and ignorant. And by the way, people like you are a big part of what is wrong in the world. You just stood up for black people but you are being racist against mormons. You sound christian but you mock a religion you know nothing about although christianity would teach different. Just keep contridiciting and embarrassing yourself, I greatly enjoy having discussions with people like yourself.

Thank you for sticking up for us!! I have tried many times here to show that what people think about us is wrong, but I don't think anyone really cares if it's coming from a "mormon". All they believe is what they have been told by someone either outside of the church, or people who have left the church for one reason or another. Like those people know what in the heck they are talking about!!
I won't bash anyone about what they believe. I don't believe that will help the situation out any, but I would really like it if people would respect what I believe also, and try to leave what I believe alone. If you don't understand it, then don't comment on it.
I don't know how many times I have answered questions that deal with what everyone else has said that we believe on this question. I don't want to keep repeating myself, but some people just don't get it, and don't care to.
I think we are just an easy target because we do let things slid off our backs so much. We don't like contention, and we don't like to push others into what we believe. We will state the facts, but if they don't want to believe it they won't. People will believe anything when they want to. No matter what others tell them, they will believe something different just so they are comfortable with their own beliefs.
Although I don't believe some of the doctrines of other faiths doesn't mean I'm going to come out and say they are wrong. They have a right to believe it. It makes no difference to me what they believe. It will make no difference in my belief system if they believe different from me.
I spent a long time in my life fighting to not believe in what I was always taught. I checked out other churches, I went to other religions, I even tried some pagan faiths for a while. But, after a lot of soul searching and a lot of praying, I came to the conclusion that I was fighting against my own belief system. I really do believe in what the LDS church teaches, and I will never again say that I don't. My faith is so much stronger for that time in my life, and I can say that looking from a different perspective has taught me a lot about the type of person I am, and what I believe. Since I looked into other churches, I know some of what others believe, and it just doesn't fit what I believe. That doesn't make it wrong, just different. You can believe whatever you want, we all have to stick to what our heart tells us, just don't tell me I'm wrong for what my heart tells me is right.

Why the hate against Mormons??... Well people tend to put down and dislike what they don't truly understand.. The prophet Stephen (a christian) had stones thrown at him and was thus killed by a guy named Saul... as well as some others(remember) (..and didn't Saul at the time he was throwing stones at Stephen, think he was doing the lords work??.. Yeppers he did! ..then after being "enlightened" to his "misunderstandings" he became (the Apostle Paul) a "believer" or christian himself. ..oh and isn't a christian by definition someone who "believes" that Jesus Christ is the son of God? ..I think so! ...and what is the true name of "Mormons" aaaa... I am pretty sure it's The Church of "Jesus Christ" of Latter Day Saints. Where and why all the confusion?? Anyone who truly wants to know or I should probably say "understand" more about the "truth" and/or "Jesus Christ" (see they're the same thing) and his "teachings/gospel/church" (again the same thing) can with SINCERE humble prayer, scripture study and faith (go look that word up in the Bible dictionary) in Jesus Christ. One more thing.. why do some people believe Mormons don't believe the/in the Bible.. or that they believe more in the Book of Mormon... this is not true! The leaders of the LDS Church have never taught this. I believe every bit the Bible as well as other books to be the word of God.

There are many great answers, pros and cons, about why the hate against Mormons. D.R. and Divinity's responses says much that should not be ignored.
As an active LDS member, I am content with my faith and have complete confidence that I am on the right path toward salvation and exaltation. Let the others say what they will against the Mormon faith--because it will not end.
Brigham Young once said that, "You can worship the yellow dog down the street so long as you bring no harm to your neighbor" (paraphrased). Isn't speaking ill will against a neighbor Mormon bringing harm to them? Of course it is!
In the USA we are entitled to believe or not believe in a Supreme Being and have the right to worship as we see fit so long as it stands within the laws of the land and the morality of the heart.
Prejudice and bias has been with us since Joseph Smith reported the first vision of seeing God the Father and Jesus Christ. Such hatred and bitter feelings, often extended by puffed-up Christians, will continue to the Second Coming.
I will respect the religious or non-religious beliefs of my neighbors, but they should respect mine equally. Just because our doctrine is unique to the Christian world doesn't mean we grow horns on our heads either.
Many profess they are right to castigate Mormons based on certain biblical scripture as found in Galatians and the Book of Revelation. Yet as one reads the Bible and the New Testament, the reader quickly should understand that Jesus Christ, our Savior, did not throw aspersions against anyone except the hypocritical Pharisees and the Saduccees.
In short, live and let live.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I think people hate LDS (Mormons) because they don't understand what we believe. A lot of the time when people don't understand something, they criticize it. I do agree that people should respect each others beliefs, but it doesn't seem to happen enough, unfortunately.
I think it also comes from misleading information. Stuff like "Mormons practice polygamy", or "Mormons don't believe the Bible". The truth is people find negative things like that interesting, and even if it isn't the truth, they choose to believe it to be the truth because it interests them.
By the way, I've always been taught by my Church and my family that I can decide for myself what is right, and to respect other faiths. In all my years in the LDS church, I've never heard/seen where a fellow member PUSHES their beliefs on someone else. We have missionaries of course, but they are trying to share the happiness and fulfillment that they feel with others. People will find that if missionaries are told "No thanks" or "I'm not interested", then they will politely leave. So the argument that "Mormons always try to force their beliefs on others" has never made much sense to me. Everyone can believe what they want.

Well, of course, the Muslims cause the most ruckus-- they make the most noise, and cause the most violence. They say "look what YOU made us do." The liberals want "fairness" and political correctness to overrule Americans' freedom of speech. It's almost overcompensating for 9/11 to prove "we're not biased against you. We know you're not ALL terrorists." In this way they get away with bad behavior. In a civilized society, we should be able to make fun of whoever we want and shouldn't be worried about getting our heads chopped off because of it. Literally. Of course, we can make fun of Jews and Christians, but somehow Muslims are "off limits?" Give me a break!!! A priest, pastor, rabbi, and Imam walked into a bar......... hehe...

it is beyond my comprehension why so many people are so unjustifiably intolerant of our religious beliefs and convictions we are just like EVERY other religion in the fact that everything we believe and everything that we practice is based on faithok i am normally a pacifist but after reading all of this stuff I was shocked ......as a member of the Later Day Saint religion no im sorry as a reasonable logical human being i am shocked and astounded how many "inteligent" adult people can make the kind of comments that were made in answer to this question and who don't know anything about what they obviously think that they are experts about yes we are christians as in we believe that JESUS CHRIST is essential to our eternal salvation no we are not racist we dont believe that people who are born with dark skin are born that way because of anything that happened in the preexistence my dad has really dark dark skin and nobody looks down on him and he is also very devout and dedicated to his religion no we dont rape our own children or anybody else's children (AND FOR SOMEONE WHOSE SISTER WAS SEXUALLY ASULTED BY SOMEONE I FIND THIS STATEMENT EXTREMELY INSULTING REGARLDLESS OF MY RELIGION) we dont have more than one wife and those who still practice polygamy are NOT i repeat NOT affiliated with our religion we are just christian people who are trying to make the best out of our live's like anybody else and doing so in the way that we believe is right and i cannot understand what is so wrong about that we dont hurt anybody else YES there have been criminals from our religion but there are bad people everywhere regardless of religion, race, age, it sad that so many people are unwiling to research and find out before they talk if you have any question about our religion feel free to email me at casera_lyn@yahoo.com

Personally the Mormons I've met are nice people. I've heard that they value the book of Mormon more than the Bible but theyre always polite & sincere.
And that penguin above wants shoving off the edge of an iceberg. If he isnt having a dig at the JWs its the Mormons now.

oh, the age old question!! They have and show this hate or dislike because of it being brought forward by MAN. Because they can't grasp the thought of God speaking to anyone but the pope. I was raised Catholic, but have had my beliefs brought to light by reading the different books available to all of us. If you but read and ask of God, you shall receive your answer. Keep in mind do it with true heart and spirit. The catholic church has been around the longest so it just thinks of it being the only one that has the answer. But look around you and you will see that the Catholic church never gives you any more then they want u to hear.

man, you are so right on the money with this one...i agree with you 1,000%, and like you...i'm not even a mormon.
but also like you, i know people in the mormon church. my best friend is a mormon...(see my question i asked a few days ago in my profile)....and he is the best person i know. his family is ALWAYS willing to help anyone out.
i have never seen why people think it is okay to put down/bash another faith, especially mormons, since they get picked on so much. my friend NEVER puts down anyone else, and when people bad-mouth him and his family and tell him that he's not going to heaven, he simply...respectfully disagrees with them. because that is how he was raised.
these so-called christians who bash members of another church for what they believe in need to take a GOOD LONG LOOK in the flippin mirror and ask themselves what christ would do. the God that i believe in wouldn't condone such behavior, but a lot of these folks are so high and mighty that they can't see that.
blondie, you're right, being nice doesn't get you to heaven, but you missed the point of the question entirely. the question was WHY all the hate against mormons??? do you think it's okay to bash them just because you disagree? very christian of you, i must say.
sorry to be so blunt, but i feel so bad for my best friend that he has to endure all this crap all the time. yet he's always such a class act about it, as most mormons are.
he's a better man than me.

I'm Mormon... and it's nice to see someone sticking up for us, thanks. Although I think you were just a little harsh, but that's just me.
I think it's mostly misinformation and misunderstanding that cause all the hate. Satan pushes people hard to hate good people.
I don't think Catholics or anyone for that matter should be hated. The LDS church teaches that we are to respect all other beliefs. I've met nice Catholics. I've met good people from many faiths.
Have a good day:)
