How much do you have to earn to file taxes. ex. If I made under $3,000 then do I have to file my taxes or not?

even if you dont make money you have to file.

If all of your income is from W-2 employment, $3000 is less than your standard exemption and you are not REQUIRED to file. If you had ANY Federal income tax withheld, you should file anyway to claim a refund. Even with zero withholding, you may be eligible for the one time Telephone tax refund this year.

If that's your only income, and it's not from self-employment, then no you don't have to file.
