"Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"
So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?" "They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him." At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " (John 20:1-17)

There are so many good ones that people don't remember! Here are some of my favorites:

Genesis 34: The story of Dinah & Shechem, in which the clever sons of Jacob exact revenge by exploiting a gesture of good faith.

Genesis 38: The story of Judah & Tamar, in which an enterprising woman forces a respected son of Jacob to honor his family's commitment.

2 Samuel 13-18: The story of Absalom, in which a neglectful father forces his children to take justice in their own hands, with tragic results.

Acts 5: The story of Ananias & Sapphira, which demonstrates the dangers of keeping secrets from a man of God.

I get tired of the same old stories.

The story of Joseph in the Old Testament. Here's a guy who does everything right, and yet it seems he gets repaid with evil. But in the end, you see it's all part of God's plan. A reminder to us that if we just endure unjust suffering, in the end everything will work out for good.

I love the story of Ruth. Love it!
But I love many stories in the Bible- they all have great application and meaning and they hold the TRUTH! Because they are the words of God--for His word is God breathed as 2 Timothy 3:16 says.
Praise Be to God!

My favorite bible story is when the Balaam's donkey talked to him.
Balaam sets out with two servants to go to Balak, but an Angel tries to prevent him. At first the Angel is seen only by the donkey Balaam is riding, which tries to avoid the otherwise invisible Angel. After Balaam starts punishing the donkey for refusing to move, it is miraculously given the power to speak to Balaam, and it complains about Balaam's treatment. At this point, Balaam is allowed to see the angel, who informs him that the donkey is the only reason the Angel did not kill Balaam. Balaam immediately repents, but is told to go on.

The story of Ruth and Boaz. In it is the return of the inheritance to Naomi by a kinsman redeemer marrying a Gentile bride. Awesome type of Israel, Yeshua, and the church!

Second would be Abraham's offering of Isaac. Excellent prophetic type of Christ's first coming and sacrifice.

Third would be Joseph. Powerful type of Yeshua's first and second coming! Awesome stuff.

The story of Moses (Exodus), especially when the Israelites are escaping and he parts the water. I just love that whole story, maybe because I loved the movie The Prince of Egypt when I was younger.

Wise King Solomon and the two women fighting over one baby. It's a very simple story, but powerfully shows how the "wisdom from above" can benefit us.

I liked it when there were people that caught an adulterous woman in the act and took her to Jesus. They said that according to the Law of Moses, she should be stoned and asked Jesus what His punishment for her should be. He said that they could stone her, as long as the ones who were without sin would throw the first stones. After a while, everybody backed away and dropped their stones. In the middle stood the woman and Jesus. He asked her where her accusers were and she responded they are gone. So He said fine, I will forgive you, go and be free of sin.
That one spoke to me a lot.

Revelations (New Testament). I like it because all the Atheist will see the existence of God. What Atheist? Are you all going to hate me because I'm Christian? Get a life, take your drinks and antidepressants.
