What does it mean when your ex tells you that you can still be friends if you want to?

That means that your ex does not want to be in a "more than friends" relationship with you ... she or he is saying that they are willing to be friends if it's not going to cause you any discomfort or pain. So if you want to be friends with this person, brace yourself ... they will be seeing other people and will probably tell you about it. If you can't take that ... I say you hold off on the friendship until your heart has healed completely from this person. Good Luck.
