After modern science showed us so many things why do people still cling on to a 2000 year old belief system? I feel it insults my intelligence? Does anyone agree?

Religion doesn't deal with 'why' Just because something cannot be explained, didn't mean god did it!

Modern science addresses the "how" to questions, religions strive to answer the "why." There are two totally different needs filled by each of them.

Not to mention the big question on all of our "progress": Have any of all of our new discoveries and gadgets actually made us happier?

edit - "God did it" isn't a "why" that's a "who." The "why" questions go deeper than that - "why am I here?" "What is the purpose of life?" "Why does (fill in the blank) matter?"

If you are content without religion that's fine for you, I'm just trying to explain why it's not a void concept for millions of people around the world.

Why would what I believe or someone else believe insult your intelligence?

It all comes down to personal choice and perspective.

I believe in God because it enriches my life, makes me happy and because once I believed I "felt" Him and it was the most glorious thing ever.

Many religions were built upon the interpretations of men many thousands of years ago; the time issue is perceptive; they saw events a certain way and recorded it in that certain way that was customary of the times.

They saw "God" as "manly" and Macho in the old testimate, the new testamet "God" was warmed up to the people and hard when he had to be as "the Father" figure.

Don't let it insult your intelligence as it is about the perceiver and not you. Life is all about people, how they feel about themselves, just listen to them speak as each word is a reflection of their inner self; an angry man yells at another as he is angry with himself...

Modern science is nice, yet, they too are clouded in certain beliefs and those beliefs have no spirituality at all and offer nothing for the person who needs spirituality. It serves it's own purposes and we all should be ok with that as it shows tolerance and openess to other ideas.

We creat our own reality. We wish it and it becomes. We plan it and it becomes, we all agree to this, subconsciously, as we creat.

"God" is a huge subject that is hard to define by any standard, be it scientific or religious and certainly, Governmental.

Imagine, "God" being conscious, not hard to imagine that; imagine "God" being "more than the sum of all that is"....posible, yeah, why not.

Imagine "God" being in all things, all things, aware, conscious; and who could deny this possibility? Atheist, ok, fine, no skin off my back.

"God" is cosciousness-all over, awareness, everywhere; for those who seek, they find him/her/they and feel it as "Good". Some choose to interpret "God" and place "God" in a religion, they name "him", give "him" a sex and then proceed to tell everyone what "God" thinks and wishes us to do;

How arogant can mankind get? Why not just spank God, make him cry at birth and give him our own sirname as surely man claims to even know what "God" thinks...

For those bitter people who seek death and distruction, they too shall find their reality absent enrichment, yet they too will sometime or another be brought forward into the presence of "God"; they will not be judged nor look down upon and shall meet nothing more than thier own actions in life; this viewing will be unavoidable and shall certainly reflect thier inner self and what they are; and that is "God"; your own reflection of you as this is how close "God" is to you, it can't get closer than that.

Claiming "God" has a name, a sex and placing "God" in a book is as tacky as the Ana Nicole Smith saga played 8 nights a week....

For those of you who sense your inaliable right to creat I offer you something of a glimps of your own creation.

I shall not pick a theme nor shall I pick a subject; but I will tell each reader to visualize something they want, by right it is yours; if your looking for that job, mentally demand it by right; if you want to get along better with someone whom you felt was impossible to get along with, see it happening and tell yourself, this is what I want. See what happens, think well of people around you and seek no confrontation.
