Here again Chalice is way off base. Dr. Edward Bach would be spinning in his grave to hear someone say that. Rescue Remedy is not "wine". The essences are preserved with a few drops of brandy added to the bottle.

When you treat a cat you shake the bottle very well and put a four drops or so on your cat's fur between its ears. Wait about five minutes and then administer your medication. Or make a couple of "applications" before you give the meds. I really don't think it is terribly appropriate for this use and I would try it to see if it helps. It definitely has a good effect before taking cats to the vet and putting it on when the vet takes the cat from its carrier in the office and prior to the trip home.

Rescue Remedy is a human product even if it is 'natural', rather get something recommended by your vet, it's terrible to use human products on a cat since most of them are toxic. One of which is alcohol, and rescue remedy is a tincture, thus it's made with an alcohol base.

Rescue Remedy has been used for years with no side effects, although I would take the advice of Old Cat Lady. She is the experienced one, and I would trust her judgment. It certainly won't hurt to try it.

If you want to use something to try to calm them first, use Feliway, not rescue remedy. Feliway is designed for cats, it mimicks their phermones. You can either buy it as a spray to use on yourself/the environment a half hour before giving medication, or as a plug in diffuser that works constantly

Rescue remedy is alcoholic. In fact it's basically a nice, fruity wine. Not good to be giving animal's alcohol!

Chalice

I have used rescue remedy in the past when taking my maine coon cat to cat shows to calm him while traveling. I think you should give it a try. It is recommended by Drs. Foster and Smith catalog also to help calm cats. Good luck.

Rescue remedy might just kill your cat. human remedies don't always work for animals. check with a vet before ever giving a cat any medications holistic or any type.

Rescue remedy won't hurt them, as to whether it can help them that's a matter of opinion. If they hate it so much that they get hysterical trying to get away from you, then the stress it causes is probably going to override any healing effects.
