Theres this guy in one of my classes who i've joked around with some and stuff and he's a great guy.
But he has been flirting with me lately and going out of his way to talk to me and he tells me that i'm pretty and stuff
but i don't see him like that at all.
he is a very emotional lets look for the deeper meaning to life person, and i'm not
plus i have my eye on another guy who i'm hanging out with this weekend
i have to make sure that we can still be friends (i know for a fact that i'm going to have a class with him next year)
and i know that no matter what this guy is the type that will just grin and bear it and still be nice to me
so i really want to make sure that he gets the message
without me having to be mean about it.
any suggestions?

Well it always happen with everybody, just that others don't give it such a deep thought...
It feels good to have people who still think like that.
Its not possible to override the affection every time and make yourself like someone just because he/she is nice to you.... so this time someone needs to know that he is good as a friend, but no further. Engage in a conversation around this and take an example in which you would say "we are good friends and nothing more than that, right? "
If you can find a topic and prepare an example this will work... try it ;)

You don't, only a fool would try what you want too. He doesn't want to be your friend, he wants more. If he can't have that, then there is no reason to be your friend. Fact is you make a horrible friend for any guy, it's not your fault it's just a fact of life.
If you try to let him down easy, you will end up accomplishing nothing. Typical female mistake, he will only think you are playing hard to get. Tell him the hard and honest truth, otherwise you risk hurting him even more.
Is that really what you want to do?

Just have a nice chat with him, let him know that you get the feeling that he is looking for more than friendship and that you do not see that happening. Make sure he knows you think he is a great guy and very nice, but you just dont see the two of you getting together. Just be honest with him and tell him how you feel.

Maybe without you knowing, you've been sending him mixed messages. Let him know that you just want to be friends. This may sting, but the sooner the better. If you waite too long, you might end up breaking his heart and losein' his friendship forever.

Just be honest with him. Tell him that he's a nice guy and that you really enjoy being friends with him, but that you're not looking for anything more than that.
It will sting him for a while, but he'll get over it. Its not your problem the way he feels. Just don't lead him on.

Pretend you aren't picking up on the vibe....then very cautiously ask what he thinks about this other guy you're going to hang out with. Make it sound like you're seeking his advice about the other guy's character, etc. He will get the hint without you having to spell it out to him.

I would just be as honest as possible, and let him know that you are interested in someone else and that you don't have that kind of a relationship with him. If he's a real kind person, he will take it well.

Yeah- as arbitruary as it might sound ----be honest. You dont have to say "hey hes hot and your not" to be honest. Just tell him hes a great guy, but you are into someone else. Its honest, its truthful......he deserves that right?
