Obviously based on your reading and critical thinking skills, they are more evolved.
The article states that since the split, their genes have evolved more than ours. In other words, at one point we were on the same path -- then we reached a fork in the road, those who eventually evolved into humans one way and the chimps the other. Since that date that they split, the chimpanzees have undergone more change than humans.
Quite simple actually.
EDIT: ::sigh::
Here, copied from the article you provided: "Since the human-chimp split about 6 million years ago, chimpanzee genes can be said to have evolved more than human genes, a new study suggests."
What part of human-chimp split do you not understand? It was the frickin' opening statement. Perhaps that's why people say that some Christians are close-minded? Because they don't even bother to read *their own* evidence.

Chimps did no longer evolve into human beings. Chimps did no longer evolve into something - they are nevertheless right here and that they are nevertheless chimps! No scientist ever claimed that chimps stepped forward into human beings. stupid statements like this are in ordinary terms made via people who haven't any seen organic and organic evolution, yet who think of for religious motives that they shouldn't have confidence in it in spite of the helping info. If such individuals ought to grant an option concept that explains the slow visual charm of recent species on earth ever when you consider that existence began - something all of us understand has surpassed off - scientists may be particularly attracted to the type of concept.

Well, I didn't follow your link but I already knew that to be a fact. Humans, as a whole are idiot, morons. Chimps, are fun loving, and carefree. Need I say more?
Btw, Chimps are evolving. Humans are devolving. Won't be long before we are just human beans. I, of course, will be a pinto bean, always liked the way they look.

did you actually read the article? it says that more of the changes that occured in the chimp genome since our split were actually useful as opposed to humans. "more evolved" doesn't actually mean anything, because evolution is not a continuum. it's just a phrase to grab headlines, because functional changes vs. non-funtional changes in the chimp genome doesn't sound as interesting.

Hmm, by that logic, we would have more robust livers and only one type of the following:
Sharks, Ants, Whales, Humanoids, Felines, Dogs, Gods (oops, had to throw that one in there)

I've seen people act like chimps--throwing stuff when they're angry, for instance. This is really interesting! Thank you so much.

chimps and humans are adapted to different environments, fill different ecological niches.
Everything isn't trying to become human. That's a huge ego trip.
