Sherry is a fortified wine from a small region of Spain, made from the Muscat, Palomino, and Pedro Ximenez grapes. In the United States and some other countries, some producers market Sherry-style wines – though technically, like the use of the term Champagne for sparkling white wines, calling such wines Sherry is incorrect.

It's a full-bodied sweeter wine froim Spain, originally Jerea, which is no pronounced "sherry".
It's good as an aperitif and is often used in cooking some
lighter fish or chicken that need a bit of sweeter flavoring,
by Western and Oriental cooks alike.
Dry sherry is a serious wine and very good indeed.

A Spanish wine fortified ( = strengthened) & stabilised by the addition of brandy. All is from the Jerez area & there are many types from very sweet to the dryest stuff you'll ever taste.
If anyone replies that it's a drink for "girls" take no notice.
