Why do not most christians get offended ...?

Question

when someone insults Jesus? Is it ok for you if someone insults your dad, mom, sister, brother, friend or spouse?

my point is you just tell that you are offended.

I am not asking anyone to punch other or kick them, just tell them that whatever they just said about Jesus has offended you.

Wouldn't you be offended if someone insulted the love of your life? Jesus isn't just our God, He's our Lover and our First Love!

It doesn't offend me nearly as much as it hurts me to see Jesus mocked and blasphemed. I love Him more than anyone or anything on this earth, and even though I know He doesn't need me to defend Him, it still upsets me when people say the crude and vicious things that they do about Him.

If someone insulted another person's husband or wife or family member, nobody would bat an eye if the insulter got his lights punched out. But it seems that we Christians are just supposed to sit back and let people mock the Lord and Savior that we love so much.

Wrong and wrong again. It probably won't do much good to ask the person not to mock Jesus (as I found out from recent experience), but that's not going to stop me from trying.

Well, I don't think that offend is the correct word for me. Annoyed sometimes is the right word. With some Christians, they believe their mission on this earth is to defend the name of God and the church. That isn't true. The reality is that not everyone is going to agree with God, not everyone is a Christian, and heaven forbid, some people don't even LIKE Christianity at all. That is their opinion and they have a right to believe as they wish.

However, if someone is saying something in order to get under someone's skin, then it's just annoying becuase it's childish. It's immature to act like that, and I really just think people that do that are sad creatures. As far as insulting members of my family, no, that isn't okay. I'm loyal to my family. I extend the net of who I am claiming to be family far beyond blood relatives. No one should have the right to be cruel to someone simply for the sake of being cruel.

I don't get offended because I would be offended 24/7, if it bothered me everytime I heard someone say something negative about Jesus...I would be offended the whole time I am on this forum, if I got offended everytime someone insulted him...I certainly hope that someone wouldn't insult my family as much as they do Jesus...Entire movies have been made,books have been written to disprove who he is. I hope someone wouldn't spend that kind of time on my Mom.

I do get offended. But from what I've seen, those that say offensive things...are trying to do just that. They are baiting Christians...they know it's offensive and that is precisely why they say it.

They will be happy if they can hook you...but I find it better to either ignore the ignorant and offensive questions...or just answer them as truthfully as I can and pretend I don't "get" the insult.

That way they don't get the satisfaction they are looking for.

Why do you get offended if someone insults Jesus? They aren't insulting YOU. This reaction would be whats called "overly sensitive".

They offended Jesus as He hung on the cross.
His first prayer to His Father was to ask that they be forgiven.
We should do likewise.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

friend, yes most of them are well deserving

spouse, no, are you crazy.

Jesus, never should be insulted and I am offended, but then most people on here that do that are children or adults that are childish, so gotta give 'em a little slack. Because their brains are a little slack.

It is not ok to insult any of the above. Though I do not believe in Allah or Buddah,I restrict myself from insulting they or their followers,and rather oppose the teachings and beliefs. I try my best to avoid direct personal insults to people and whatever personage or concept that they may have of a higher power.

We do get offended and many of us do let others know..(and we should).

After all the misery his followers have caused us Jews, I have a right to insult his followers. Calling some Jew who lived 2000 years ago a human is definitely NOT an insult!
