Having lived in Italy - I know that such can be a topic that has supporters from both sides - which can lead to a rather 'hot' discussion.
Personally - I don't care. I am not Catholic. I am not even Italian. But if I were - I can see why Italy would have concerns over the issues.

Since I'm not Catholic, nor am I Italian, and I don't live in the Vatican, then I don't care. I mean, I don't want a war started over whether Italy should annex the Vatican or not, but I don't think it would effect me if they did, and it certainly doesn't effect me if they don't.

I think it is historical, and should stay the way it is. The sovereignty of Vatican City was part of the agreements concerning the original unification of Italy.

Let the Italians deal with it. Most Catholics elsewhere probably don't care either.

It doesn't bother me. It might if I were Italian or Catholic.
