Amy, I think that atheists must be very hungry people. They do seem to like chewing bums...they've chewed mine a time or two, as well.
I keep promising myself that, next time, I'm just NOT gonna let any of them get to me, make me lose my cool, upset me, or any such like. But the minute I think I've got it under control, somebody pushes my buttons, and the next thing I know, I'm back on my knees begging God to forgive me and give me more restaint.
Maybe you could pray for me? And I will also pray for you.....
I think the real reason that they come here is because they are attracted by the LIGHT....
But they will never admit it.
God bless ya, Hun...

Your confusion seems to stem from the fact that you consider a god or gods necessary for spirituality. Being an atheist does not mean that a person cannot be spiritual. There is no requirement to belong to an organized religion to be spiritual person. There is no contradiction. Therefore, participation in the Religion and Sprirituality section of this forum is perfectly appropriate for atheists who are spiritual. I would also challenge the argument that you need to believe in a god or gods to participate in an organized religion.

Hang in there Amy -
I wouldn't be too disturbed, answering questions from non-believers gives us a chance to share the Good News with whomever may be reading.

Remember:
"For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heat." Hebrews 4:12

Also God's Word will not return void to Him:
"So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:11

So I use this forum for opportunities to hopefully convict unsaved readers to seek God and realize that we all need a savior.

Those who don't want to hear, well, shake the dust off your feet and move on. Don't let negative comments get to you.
Take care - Redeemed

Don't forget #5 It's a Sprituality section too.
The ones who aren't really spiritual even say this one.

JP has an interesting story about how he is spiritual, but an atheist. You should hear it. It's really interesting. He says that he understands what his brain is doing when he has visions of a Norse god, so he can be both spiritual and atheist.

#1 should've quieted you. The U.S. is a Free Country. Period. No if ands or buts. Plus I go and ask stupid questions on the baseball and cooking sections about off topic stuff. None of them seem to get as offended by my nonsense as you theist do.

#5 Atheism is the ABSENCE of belief in a god or gods. So it's still ABOUT theism - it's the absence of it. A lot of atheists used to be theists and/or Christians. Some atheists DO have questions on religion and spirituality and also very many of them can answer questions on the subjects as they have either studied or used to be a theist in the past. Also, an atheist CAN be religious - Buddhist for example. Furthermore, the internet is a good place for debate. Yahoo answers is one such site that allows that. Wouldn't you be bored speaking solely to other theists? And another thing, a lot of questions, LIKE THIS ONE, are asked specifically to atheists. We kind of need to be here to answer them, eh?

Some of us are here to remind people to be more tolerant and understanding without any prejudice. This goes for the religious and non-religious. I can't say this for everyone but there are a lot of angry people in the world. Hate creates more hate.

Atheists are in the religion/SPIRITUALITY section to debate about the legitimacy of your faith. Are we not debating about spirituality?Atheists are not personally spiritual, but will criticize and debate it. Where else will an atheist debate with religions;philosophy, doubt religious people will even go in there.

I suppose you'd kick all the people who don't own pets out of the "pets" category too, and all the people who aren't doctors out of the "health" section, so on and so forth...
