Percentages don't have to be down to the last penny. I'm just curious for a rough estimate. Does the government withhold 15, 20 25% of your wages?

i think between 28 and 30%.

It depends on how much you make each paycheck, and what you put on your W-4. If you fill out your W-4 accurately, the amount deducted would about equal your tax liability for the year. So nobody can really give you an answer to your question without more info.

I can say though, that if they're withholding 25% of your wages for federal income tax, you'd have a pretty high salary.

MUCH more information is needed for an accurate answer. The link below includes withholding tables for each filing status. Federal Income tax is withheld at between 10% and 35% AFTER subtracting an amount determined by the number of allowances on your W-4 and how often you are paid.

Social Security, 6.2%
Medicare, 1.45%
Then your Federal withholding, which depends on the number of exemptions you claim....

It depends on how many dependents you claim but it can be anywhere form 28% to 33 %
