I'm in middle school, and the main lunch choices are pizza, salad, sub sandwich, baked potato, Campbell's soups, or Arby's beef sandwich. Obviously, the pizza (served with a side of fries, usually!) is NOT a healthy choice, and I guess I've decided that a baked potato is a good main dish. However, I was wondering how healthy a baked potato actually is. Is it alright for me to get this basically everytime I buy my lunch - about 3 times a week as I said above - or should I just go for bringing my lunch every day?

Note: The sub sandwiches have soggy bread and aren't appetizing what-so-ever, and their salads don't fuel me enough for the rest of the day.

Yeah, baked potatoes are an excellent choice for healthy lunches. Now if you're eating just a potato, or if you're slathering it in melted cheese, salt, and sour cream, that's not so healthy. But topped with some broccoli and maybe some bacon bits, you're well on your way to a healthy lunch!

nothing wrong with a baked potato, it's the crap people pile on them that cause problems. Things like cheese, sour cream, butter salt and bacon bits ruin any healthy value the potato may have. But the plain potato has lots of potassium in the skin. You would do well to scoop out the potato and just eat the skins, but how palatable you might find that is quesstionable. Frankly, with what the school offers, I'd plan on bringing your own lunch.

The baked potato is a healthy choice, just don't make the unhealthy choice of loading it with cheese, sour cream, or other fattening condiments! Also eat the skin. The skin on the potato is supposed to be one of the healthiest parts of the potato.

yes a baked potato without all the toppings is good for you. I'd eat at least part of the skin for fiber, but that's up to you. the soup is probably high in salt, but if it's the clear broth (not creamy soup), it's still a good choice.

Potato is all carbohydrate which is sugar then turn it into fat. It depends on what else did you eat through out the day! Potato isn't' a good choice if you watch your weight!

because of the fact maximum college lunches are government backed. the government buys all the left over meat and dairy products that are actually not offered off and donate them to the school gadget. So the school structures get the backside grade meat and dairy products. Meat and dairy is surely no longer right for you in any case. Meat may be so plenty extra costly if the U. S. government did no longer pay for a good component of it in the past it went into the markets. it incredibly is the reason produce is so damn costly....the government would not help with this as plenty because of the fact the beef and dairy marketplace because of the fact they have investments in them. so because it incredibly is the reason we've such disgusting lunches in our college structures! BAG LUNCH please!
