If I were christian, I'd reference Mithras, Horus, and other Pagan gods. They're the blueprints for Jesus and the best source of references of his miracles. But since I'm atheist, I reference those things anyway.

p.s. Christians know there is no proof outside their unreferenced, unannotated, unreliable, illogical book. You may as well ask J.K. Rowling for proof of the Harry Potter series.

In the Old Testament, God spoke directly to people, such as Moses to let them know what was expected of them. They did not have the Bible as we know it. They had the commandments of God written down as well as direct contact with God.

There were also the prophets in the Old Testament who spoke for God.

When Jesus came on the scene, He spoke for God. His apostles, since they spoke with and learned from Jesus were messengers of the Good New and the commandments which were set forth by Jesus and God.

God inspired various men throughout the Bible times to write down what He had told them and what they had seen.

Today, God does not communicate directly to us. That is the purpose of the Bible and prayer. If the Bible did not exist, if God had not inspired man to record his commandments, the entire concept of Christianity might have been distorted beyond that which God had intended. Christianity and the Bible go hand in hand and cannot be seperated.

We can, however, "let our light shine" to others by doing good deeds and generally living a Christian life, but we cannot know God's will without the Bible.

We all have a conscience that tells us what's right and wrong. This is a God given conscience. We all know what's right and wrong. But God's Word the Bible will always be around. Man has tried to destroy and discredit the Bible and they are just hurting themselves. We need to be humble and honest and realize that we have a Creator who cares about us and knows what's best for us. Jehovah created us. If we accept this we will live a much happier life and have a beautiful hope for the future.

Since the bible is the book that tells us who God is and what he wants anything else is just making stuff up. I guess you can make up anything you want. I'm sure someone will believe you, but I reference the bible when attempting to describe the God of the bible.

Life itself is a miracle, a gift from God. Life all around us in all its beauty and variety and mystery, in its tenderness and its strength, in the glory of the day and the mystery of the night. The miracle of life can be seen in the fragile velvety petals of a flower that change from a rosy pink to a deep purple as they fully blossom. But God did not choose to give us these things alone to point towards His beauty and majesty, He choose to give us the Bible to know the rest of the story. All of God's creation points to Him. That is why civilizations that have never had the Bible still know there is a God and God will judge all according to what they have had available to them, there still is the free will to choose good or evil no matter what. I am so glad God knows everything and I don't have to!

The Bible was rewritten by sexist men the truth of what god wants is in all of our souls. If you want reference of what god wants and who god is your best source of that reference is yourself without the materialistic frame of mind man has programmed you to have. Who god is? that answer is simple
god is everything we destroy for our own personal quest for convenience! I will end it here but if any of you bible thumpers out there want to challenge the truth I have stated I say un to you bring that righteous **** on. Because until you can practice what you preach your preaching will never surpass what the people out here already know somewhere in the back of their own minds as the truth.

The Bible is merely a book until you know the Author. He is the Living Word, and He lives in me!

If I had no paper Bible, I feel confidant that He would give me the words to speak. I would also share testimony that has been passed down through generations.

i believe that there must of been some real form of true christianity that god or jesus didn't mean to have it be so militant and narrow minded that any other form weather you read the bible or not doesn't have a connection with god. i don't pray to jesus, i pray to god. i dont' call him/her, it god, i call him/her/it my creator. i believe in spirituality, brotherhood, and that thier are many different ways out there that are true honest forms of prayer. and they all lead to the same place. i think that thier are a lot of people who call themselves christians are coming from a good place and have good intentions. but i do think alot need to open thier minds more to different concepts and create unity instead of diversity in knowing that even though i may pray in a differnet place and my ceremonies i follow and that have been given to me by the same god/creator as you, they lead to the same place.

Well I'm not a christian, but without the bible I really don't think that you would have Christians as the life of Jesus and him being the son of god wouldn't have been told.

**Esther, not to be rude, but everything that you just said came from the bible.

Good thinking. The answer is of course - nothing. God does not exist beyond the paper it is written on. The mystery of the written word, magic to the ancients, is the focus of belief.
