For a couple of weeks now, I have been having constant headaches and eye pain on my right side. I've ignored it as something temporary but the pain keeps on coming and even when I take pain medicine (Aspirine, Motrin, Tylenol) it doesn't go away. It helps a lot when I put ice or a very cold towel on my eye and temple. I also see black dots. Could this be because of eye problems?

Thanks in Advance,

Severe head pain associated with eye symptoms may be associated with both Migraine and Cluster types of headache. These are neurovascular disorders that are helped by medication. It is best to see a nerologist to have it checked out and treated. Another possibility could be a migranious toothache.... which is treated with medications typically used for Migraine headache. Another possibility is Myo-facial Pain Dysfunction Syndrome (MOFP). Here, the true source of the pain are tight bands of muscle in the head and neck region that may refer pain to the teeth, jaws, ears, head, or neck. MOFP is treated with oral orthotic appliances, physical therapy, behavior modification, and/or medication (usually muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, and tricyclics).
If it persists I would call your doctor... with the information you provided this is all the information I have.... Good Luck
