I know these bumps aren't cold sores because they go up to my nose and down to my chin, they aren't on the lips. My tongue is also swollen and very tender. Does anyone have this happen after eating a food you are allergic to? I've been tested for foods years ago and nothing was that bad. So I'm not quite sure how a mild food allergy may affect a person. Any insight would be great. Thanks!

My tongue has been swollen for at least 2 days. It stopped swelling so I don't need to go to the ER, I was just wondering how long this lasts or if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks for the concern.

It should take about 3 days to go away. During that time you should be on a high dose of benedryl to keep your airways open. You should also see an allergist as soon as you can for testing and a prescription for an epipen in case it happens again and you don't get this lucky.

Yes, that is a food allergy. You might want to get a doctor's help if the swelling doesn't go down by tomorrow, and avoid the offending food in the future.

Good luck!

It definitely sounds like an allergic reaction to something. You should go to the emergency room whenever your tongue swells. The swelling could cut off your airway and that would be serious.

Have you been around someone with Strep throat, do you have a cold? Or someone with scarlet Fever?

It sounds like you have some type of something..and if it was me personally and it is unsightly to look at I would have gone to the doctor?

Before it could spread into your throat and it closes up and you stop breathing!

go to the emergency ward in a hospital. ASAP.

I am not kidding.

dial 9-11 if you don't have anyone to take you to the hospital.
