Uh, yes you do - that's income. You need to show the total - if you haven't kept records through the year, you could have a problem here, but if you don't have records but can estimate fairly closely, you'd probably be OK.

You'd report them on a schedule C or C-EZ, along with any expenses you had for the side jobs. Then you'd fill out a schedule SE to calculate self-employment tax (social security and medicare) on the net. The numbers from there would transfer to a form 1040 to calculate your income tax. If you also have W-2 income, it would go right onto the 1040.

you are allowed to make so much money per year tax free.

so if you want to report it

go ahead and file to see what that amount is.
