People are always talking about gun cointrol this gun control that.

The comment that we need them to eat is stupid. That is no longer necessary. The pleasure of hunting I certainly can give up to preserve public safety. That idea does not wash.

Where does it say we have the right to manufacture firearms?
That is no where to be found.
When the constitution was written that law refered to a musket. Firearms today do not in any way resemble a musket.

Indians never killed each other with guns until the rest of humanity brought them to them. Indians were killed off by American guns as WE STOLE THEIR LAND FROM THEM.

No weapon even comes close to being as deadly as a firearm.
Without firearms murders worldwide would fall by 70%.
But then the thinning man needs would not happen and the economy would fall apart. Oh well.

Marijuana and Meth is VERY EASY TO PRODUCE. So is Alcohol but a firearm is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO PRODUCE. The products needed and the process to make them is NOT EASILY CONCEALABLE.

Why do we manufacture cars? They kill more than guns. Were you there when they put the Second amendment together and knew what they were talking about or just an opinion? Did you know they had handguns during this time period? They are not called muskets. I hunt with a black powder rifle typical of those used around 1830-1840. Plenty of whites and Indians killing each other at that time.

Give up all your rights you want but don't think you can give up mine. You are being totally emotional on an issue that is not one sided.

To re-write history and tell people YOU know what the founding fathers meant is ludicrous. Supreme courts have ruled on this. I'm sorry if you don't agree, but go where they have no guns and live in Shangrila

Because people have needed weapons for (1) defense since the dawn of time, as well as weapons for (2) hunting. That carries through to the present days, although the government military defends us and we can easily run to the supermarket for food. That is the answer.

While you may think that we should get rid of guns altogether, I would disagree. Not only would it be impossible to prohibit firearms (marijuana is the biggest cash-crop in the US, an -illegal- substance), it must be noted that everything is abused in one form or another. Hackers use computers to wreak chaos amongst multiple computers, and yet we still have PCs legalized. Alcohol causes the destruction of countless families, marriages, and lives, and yet it's still legal.

Every American has the right to bear arms. It is in the U.S. Constitution. Althougth some guns get in the wrong hands of wrong people. There are gun magazines were you can order any gun in the magazine, even automatic guns such as AK's and submachine guns. There are thousands of people that collect guns and are gun enthuisiasts also. Guns are manufactured for hunters that hunt deer, turkeys, and other animals. And most of all, guns are manufactured for the military and police forces to protect and serve.

Why manufacture computers that some people use to solicit child pornography?

Why manufacture cellphones that people use to deal drugs?

Why manufacture knives that people use to cut or stab another person?

Why manufacture automobiles that exceed the posted speed limits when they cause wrecks and kill people?

Why manufacture ANYTHING that some person might misuse to commit a crime or cause death or injury to another?

Policing, military, in some ways they are (unfortunatly) needed to keep the peace.
I speak from a Canadian standpoint, but I think the US needs to re-examine the right to bare arms and make the laws stricter. I mean, its a right, but maybe it needs to be changed since some people cannot make the distinction between carrying a gun and killing 30+ people.

Because you can't grow them from the ground.
Firearms are used for hunting and other sports. Criminals use them for despicable purposes.
