sadly lung cancer is usually discovered way to late to treat. I lost both Mom and dad to lung cancer and it was caught to late for both of them. Mom knew almost 3 years before she dies, Dad less than 4 months. It can also spread very rapidly to lymph nodes or other places, it is not like some knot you can cut out. Sorry

lung cancer affects our most dire need of survival, our ability to breathe. we need both lungs, healthy and in good working order to pust the oxygen to all parts of our body..when they are diseased, especially with cancer, if depletes our supply of oxygen. as far as statistic, it depends on the type of lung cancer..some are treatable, some arent, such as non small cell carcinoma..there is no cure for that type, and sadly is the most common type. hope this helps

by the time patient is diagnosed with lung cancer,it is usually very late
usually cancers are treated well if detected in early stages
but in lung cancer ,there is no method of screening lung cancer(like pap smear for cervical cancer)
there are risk factors for lung cancers, but by the time patient develops symptoms of lung cancer,it is too late
treatment is available,,but prognosis is poor

It suffocates people. You can have it for years and not know it. It starts out as a teeny tiny little cell. It is a horrendous disease. It spreads to the spine, bones, brain, prostate, breast, everywhere. It causes great pain. By the time you are diagnosed, you only live about 6-8 months.
