i was getting out of the shower, the back door rang. we live on a corner w/ no fence. anyway i was going to ignore it but he starts knocking on the dining window like he's a good friend or relative. i look thru the bedroom window, don't know the car so i ignore it. 2 mins later, still, knocking and tapping. i finally go to the door, he asks if there is a car for sale here b/c he's been looking for a corner brown house w/ a lumina for sale. so my ? is, he didn't seem creepy but why would he knock for that long, including window tapping especially since there were no cars outside our house that he would think are for sale? also why wouldn't he just call the people to find the right house? i'm scared, like maybe he was casing our house. or does weird stuff like that happen to everyone? he didn't try to come in or use the phone, said sorry and left but still ... what do u guys think? i tried looking in our newspaper for a lumina to see if it's our neighborhood but no luck.

I don't blame you for being nervous, I would have been too. He may have been telling the truth but just be careful and don't open the door when you're home alone if it's somebody you don't know. Call the police if he shows up again

Gosh that was scarrey. I feel that it probably wasn't a bad person but you can never, ever, be too careful. When I take a shower and am home alone, I lock the screen/storm doors and also the entrance door. I also always have my slippers, robe and a cordless phone in the bathroom. My bathroom has a window in it so if the worst thing should ever happen I can get out or call for help. Did you have your doors locked, this guy was so persistant that he might have just opened it up and came in.

If you see him again be worried but if not I wouldn't really worry about it. Its wierd but people aren't that smart, this car he's looking for might be from an old ad or in a totally different neighborhood and he just didnt realize it, plus all the knocking was probably just him being rude. I doubt someone casing your house would knock on the window to get your attention.

Well you have a right to be suspicious I suggest getting a peep hole so you can look out and do not have to answer. We have people coming to our door all the time that I would not trust. That is also why we got a mastiff I guarantee no one bothers us even though he is a lovable mug. They don't know that. Definitely call the police if that guy comes to your door again. No, your not paranoid you just believe in self-preservation.

Don't answer the door unless you know the person...especially if you are alone.
Why would someone ring the back doorbell anyway? That is creepy. Maybe he heard noises in the house (shower), or saw you through the window. Maybe he was snooping.
This would creep me out too. I would talk to one of your parents about this and get their point-of view.

I would just keep an eye out. I don't think you are paranoid, just cautious. I never answer the door to anyone I do not know. I figure if I do not know them and they're not up to something, then they're just trying to sell me something I don't want. So, I just ignore them. If you see this guy again and he is acting suspicious, call the police.

He may have been casing the place to see what kind of stuff you have, or if you live alone. He may have been checking to see if you have a husband or other male in the house. I think its unwise to answer your door when you are not expecting anyone, even if they are frantic. Especially if they are frantic. That means their emotions are running high and they are impatient and possibly unstable. Beware of the poor souls addicted to crack, they are often frantic and impatient.

call the cops and report it..even if it seems over-reactive, it won't hurt anything to play it safe.
