Mainly for it's nature, bushes and wildlife.
Kangaroos of course, koalas, wallabies, unspoiled nature, bush, splendid beaches, wine, food.

Kangaroo Island is known particularly for its wildlife and that is going to make worldwide headlines in the not too distant future. Koalas were introduced to KI many years ago and their population has grown enormously. There are about 30,000 of them on the Island which is about 20,000 mre than the Island can take. They cannot be moved to the mainland as just about all suitable koala habitat already has koalas - which are territorial.

The only solution will be a cull. 20,000 koalas will be shot. Many cuddly-animal lovers are going to get upset about this and there will be calls for boycotts of Australia etc etc. There is, however, no choice. Koalas were introduced to islands in Westernport Bay near Melbourne and the same thing happened. Nothing was done and the koalas ate everything they could and then starved to death. A cull is far more humane.

If you know anyone who can find a home for 20,000 koalas, please let the South Australian Government know. They would appreciate any reasonable suggestions.

Added. Yes, I am serious. If you don't believe me check it out.
