Absolutely stunning! The delicated English Roses were crushed by the South African Lions! I couldn't have asked for a better victory - England were whipped in every sense of the word - outbowled and outbatted...vanquished by ruthless Hall! The best moment had to be Pieterson getting caught by his nemisis Smith - genius! I wonder if he's thinking about a career move right now...LOL! Need any help with those bags, Mr Vaughan?

I admit I had my doubts about SA but they really restored my faith in them and made me proud to be South African!! I don't usually like to gloat over a victory like this but after all the harsh and uncalled for criticism SA has been getting from everyone...I hope the smile will be wiped off their faces right now! I'm not bothered if SA don't get beyond the semis but after the extremem arrogance and insults from the English, when it really mattered, South Africa proved that they can win...and win convincingly! They did us proud today!

Whatever man - you can't deny that SA playing some top cricket today and remember England beat Bangladesh - that's all behind us now!

Say what you like Roger L - its not been a great tournament for us but at least we answered our critics today!

I totally accept what some of you are saying but you're misinterpreting what I'm saying - I never said SA were the best team in the world! There seems to be a lot of hatred for the South Africans for some wierd reason, people on here can't even accept it was a crushing defeat for England without criticising SA. Yes we go into the semis with a bad record but we at least got there. For me this was more SA silencing the critics. The numerous BBC blogs poking fun at SA - revelling in their misfortune - the English fans posting message after message slating every aspect about us on 606 and on here! For me today was a victory over all the haters! We're unlikely to win the semis but least we proved our critics wrong when it came to the crunch! Btw, England almost beat SL -sometimes these matches come to luck as well as skill!

Arcadia - that's a bit rich don't you think? The English are most arrogant bunch of people I've come across! Honestly I don't know every hates South Africans so much - we're actually very nice people with a good sense of humour and a strong sense of politeness! Did you bother to read my other comments on this page? Trust me if you look back at the WC blogs on the BBC and the comments made on the BBC forums, you'll see a hate campaign being waged against us. It started right after we lost to Bangladesh! Yesterday I say English fan posting about the Boer War and how rubbish South Africa was as a country! I mean come on, I thought cricket was meant to be civilized. It's the attitude of the English that annoyed me, hence my rant today, otherwise I wouldn't be normally doing this. And by the way, the Aussies are also an extremely arrogant team but I guess they've got good reason to be...

LOL HB! How can I be jealous of the fat, boozy Barmy Army and their dejected cricket team?! Did you not see the match yesterday?! You got steamrolled!

Who cares if we got knocked out early, previous to that SA has usually got to the semi-final stage, when was the last time England did that? South Africa made it to the semi-final of the 99 WC, they draw with Aus who went through based on their run rate! And in the WC before that, SA narrowly lost to Aus in the final!

If anyone's got anything to be jealous about, it's you guys!

"Extreme arrogance"? "Insults" ? What planet do you get your information from??? At least the Aussies have a little humilty when they win, but, as you have shown, Saffers dont know how to do anything with grace. I suppose we should have seen that coming.

I think you are seeing criticism where none exists..everyone know that, when they are at the top of their game, SA are probably the only side who can scare Australia. They certainly got the closest yet of anyone to actually beating them.

Anyway, England's chickens came home to roost tonight...the plain truth is that in one day cricket we are only just above Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Our Test cricket has improved a lot under Fletcher, which is the most important thing, but the one day side has gone backwards. This performance wasn't just poor, it was complete crap. There can now be no reason at all why Fletcher doesnt do the decent thing and resign. And we should stop picking players on the basis of their reputation rather than form. Anderson? Mahmood? Are they really up to international standard? And why the hell wasnt Mark Ramprakash in the squad?

What's that song I'm thinking of ... "Sing when you're winning ... you only sing when you're winning ..."

You talk of the arrogance of the English - let's take you back 4 years to the last Cricket World Cup in South Africa shall we? What was the official song of the South African team? "Stand up for the Champions" by Right Said Fred ... and who got knocked out in the first round through playing crap cricket?? Could it possibly have been South Africa ... talk about arrogance ...

And before you say it - yes England did get knocked out in the first round too last time - but that was through us having morals and refusing to play in Zim rather than your teams excuse of just playing crap!

And as for the suggestion that the Barmy Army are know to be nasty - get real! Never before have I met such a great bunch who are so passionate about the game of cricket. Every international team is jealous of the Army - they all want something similar ... is your bitterness towards them just jealousy too?

I think you're talking about the insults directed by the Barmy Army on the South African supporters? Or are you taking about the English media?
Whether it's the Barmy Army or the British media, both are known to be nasty, so I don't blame you for your reaction there.

I think South Africa were the better team today by far, and, at least in ODI's, have always been the better team.

Congrats to the SA team, and to you!

Come on, South Africa was just the better team (today). Congrats to them. I dont think they have really proven themselves tho. They need to work harder. I mean, Sl was close to beating them, they lost to the Kiwis and the the Aussies and the BANGLADESHIS. As long as they r stepping up their game tho, then dats good.

I'm English, I read the English newpapers & listen to the English media. I don't recall hearing much English arrogance & I don't know what insults you are writing about.

I think you're getting a bit carried away.
