I fight this myself. I can only encourage you to add regular exercise to your life. You will see a vast improvement and your medication will be much more effective. And some might not agree, but attend church service once a week. I can tell a difference if I do not attend mass.

It sounds like more than depression, you could be suffering from a nervous or mental brake down & may need a medication change, depending on how long you've been on current meds for. You should get your medication assessed every few months & tell your doctor everything concerning your mental health. It takes time to get better & everyone's different. I understand it may seem like it's taking forever to & it can be frustrating, I know. But try to be patient, you will get well again. It's very important to keep busy, take up some hobbies, join an activity group for people in the same situation. You say you've had councelling but do you still see one? You should see one on a regular basis. When overwhelmed with stress it can often make you forgetful, maybe you need to make a list of all the things making you depressed before you see your counceller & doctor next. I wish you well, take care & all the best

Drink 8 or 9 cups of water every day, and eat a daily serving of seafood.
Doing that will cure in 4 months, what anti-depressants are unable to cure.
If you're dehydrated and not getting seafood, your body is just about to die most of the time, and the medicine is a band-aid for what is, basically, a crisis situation.

Get yourself some lavender candles, find a quite place at home where you can be without interruption for at least 20 minutes, and get yourself a relaxation/meditation cassette or disc. It will teach you the skills to calm yourself when you feel anxious, and change your mind set to where you won't feel depression, you will be so relaxed you might fall asleep (but snuff the candles first!) This will do what the meds can not do, and you will feel better. Good luck to you.

Use this link to find a local Mind association

http://www.mind.org.uk/Mind+in+your+area/

they are a charity and offer informal help and support.

They are easy to access and you can refer yourself.

I have suffered from clinical depression for over 20 years and found that support from my local Mind has been the best help for me.

They are easier to talk to than Dr's and other health professionals within the NHS, they won't judge you, they are well informed and offer a wide range of services.

They promote a helping and enabling approach and can be used alongside medicatl treatment, or as a stand alone service. Not everyone using there service will be taking medication or seeing psychiatrists, or counsellors.

All it takes is a phone call, please contact them, what have you got to lose?

I have been helped enormously over the years and after having to have a long period away from work, I now count myself as priveleged to work for them. I am using my experiences to help and support others who are suffering.

Recovery is possible, it's hard work, and there will be relapses along the way, but with good help and support around you it is possible to find a way of coping with your illness........... believe me, I am doing that now!!

I also think it is worth going to talk to your GP about medication, there are many different anti depressants available, maybe you need to try another one that would be more suitable for you.

Take care and good luck.

You deserve help and support, you just need to know where to look for it.
