find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

I'm attempting to do the same thing except I'm a guy. If your a guy, 14, 145 lbs don't even worry about it your in shape. If your a girl, I think this will be a little easier for me then it will be for you but here's what I've gotten so far...

Diet and exercise are the key things to losing weight. Basically all that you need to do is burn more calories than you consume. Eating 1400 calories a day is good for dieting. There are 3500 calories in one pound, so if you burn 3500 more calories than you eat in a given time then you will lose 1 pound.

Now, you don't have to burn all 3500 calories from exercise. Your body burns a lot of calories in a day from normal activities of your organs such as the brain, liver, lungs, etc. This is called your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate. A link for a BMR calculator is in the sources.

Also, try and eat healthy. Forget all of the greasy fast food and junk food. Try and eat 4-5 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones. This keeps your metabolism up and you'll burn the calories you eat faster.

Exercise is a necessity. Running is definitely good for burning the calories your BMR can't. Basic cardio will burn those leftover calories.

I strongly advise you not to eat less than 1400 calories a day. It's unhealthy especially if your exercising.

I hope this helped, and good luck.

I need to loose weight too, I started a diet today, I exercise 4 days a week 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night I only eat fruits and vegetables all day, if there is none around then I don't eat. I don't eat anything that looks or sounds fatty, and the main thing I stay away from is bread, potatoes, and rice...

BMR is how many calories you need to maintain your current weight and can be found online just by typing it in.

You must create a deficiency of those calories through diet and exercise in order to lose any weight.

3500 calories = 1lb

So if you intake your bmr by 500 calories a day it equals 1lb over 7 days that you would lose.

I have lost 30lbs since February 9th on Medifast. If you stick to the program, though costly, you will lose weight.

It's so sad to see young people dieting. *sighs* But cut out junk food, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, and count your calories. You can safely lose weight by eating 1,400 calories a day, so stick to that to start with.

3500 calories equals 1 pound. If you substituted foods you currently eat (cut out the fast food, don't drink soda, eat more chicken, vegetables, soups etc.) and exercise daily you will see results.

Example, burn 500 calories per day exercising alone and you will lose a pound per week! If you combine exercise and changing your eating it will happen.
