Hell is for eternity. once you are there, there is no way to get out. You go there because you have rejected Jesus as your Saviour.
Some people may believe that God wants to put people in hell, but he does not. He wants all men to be saved. He is just honoring their wishes for God to leave them alone.

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Matthew 26:46

Hi ,yes this is a true fact,Hell like Heaven is an eternal existence both will never end, someone put it like this once, our life on earth is but a blip between two eternities.
For someone to go to Hell means that they rejected God and the salvation that was offered to them in Christ, along with all the graces that have been made available to us through the church.

It all depends on your interpretation of scripture. I personally do not believe that hell is eternal. I believe heaven is eternal, but hell is not. The new testament word for eternal is a Greek word meaning for ages and ages. People may have to spend a lot of time in hell, but I believe that in time all will be in Heaven.

Yes, but we have only ourselves to blame if we reject the one way God has given us to know Him personally, through His Son Jesus. Jesus has offered to pay God's demand for our perfection on our behalf, and unless we accept Jesus' offer to do on our behalf what we can't do on our own to satisfy God, there is no other way that God has provided for us to know Him and to be with Him forever. (Acts 4:12) Some people will try to say that God wouldn't send a person to hell forever, but there's nowhere in the Bible that indicates that a person who goes to hell will ever leave hell. There's nothing at all in the Bible to support such a notion.

But why would a person go to hell forever if they reject God's provision for their redemption? Because God never intended to have to send people to hell in the first place. Hell and the lake of fire were the eternal destiny of Satan and the fallen angels who took his side. But since God cannot allow sin in His presence, for those people who reject the way God has provided for the absolution of their sins, God has no other choice but to allow them to go to hell. And they have nobody to blame for themselves if they reject the solution God has offered. It's not a pleasant thing to think about, but since God has given each of us a way to have our sins forgiven, if we reject His way, then we bring the consequences upon ourselves and we have only ourselves to blame.
