find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Personally, I think that most diet plans are usually ineffective, i don't think depriving yourself of certain foods is a good idea coz they might be rather unhealthy (plus you'll get bored really fast) instead...eat anything you want, just in lesser amounts.
Now, couple that with excercise and your sure to be on your way to losing weight! See what activities you like to engage in and go for it.
Another good idea is trying to take the chance of walking instead of taking a ride when going somewhere that's not too far, especially if your with a friend (it will give you alot to talk about, which will occupy your mind instead of your fatigue) and another great idea of doing this is getting a dog!
All in all there is no "secret magic trick" for weight loss, people will tell you about complex plans since humans are naturally attracted to complicated ideas, which is a fact so-called weight-loss experts will attempt to abuse sometimes.
This ideology is practical, effective and cost-free! (except maybe the dog part, but getting a dog in itself is totally worth it!)
