i have a miniature schnauzer and it seems lately she is always sick. she's been to the vet on average about three times a month for the last four months. this last time they gave her medicine and she seemed okay. today she is throwing up yellow bile or something. what is going on? is there something i can do to make her better? will she always be this way? i have changed her to an all natural diet and she gets plenty of exercise yet she still gets sick. can someone please help me?

Just a hunch, but get the dog checked for H. Pylori bacteria. (the bacteria causes ulcers in both dogs and people). Chronic 'sickness' and yellow bile can be classic symptoms.

There's something going on with your dog's digestive system. If your vet can't find what it is, you need to see another vet. Have they run complete blood panels? Have they checked liver/kidney function? Run bile acids tests? Complete parasite checks using a centrifuge instead of simply a fecal flotation? Schnauzers have higher incidents of liver problems than many other breeds so don't mess around and simply wait for it to get better. Be proactive and find out what is going on to get to the bottom of this.

If she checks out with a clean bill of health, do some experimenting. Does her food contain corn? Many dogs can't tolerate a corn-based food or may be allergic to wheat or certain protein sources. Perhaps the problem could be fixed by something as simple as feeding a quality food like Canidae, Blue Buffalo, Innova Evo, Eagle Pack Holistics, etc. instead of what you can purchase at Wal Mart. Some dogs have allergies or vomiting responses to stress. Keep looking, and good luck!

It sounds very much like your dog has a sensitive stomach, and you just need to try to find a food that he can tolerate.

Go back to the vets and get them to recommend a food - try Hills i/d or Royal Canin's sensitivity control. These are both bland diets usually well tolerated by animal.

You took the dog to the vets which was the right thing to do. Don't give up on the vets because the problem wasn't solved quickly - they're not miracle workers and these things are tricky, every dog having individual needs, but they're still the best people to advise you!

It can be so many things.
You said you have taken her to the vet with no luck.
Not all vets are as qualified as you may think. For example I once went to a certain vet years ago and was told my dog had bone cancer and would not survive past a month. Well 3 years later, he was still alive and kicking.
Just as you may wish a second opinion for what ails you, I would do the same with my dog. Especially seeing how you have gone to this vet several times now with no results.
Was a blood panel done? or other tests that need to be done in a lab?

Is she ingesting too rapid or too plenty? Then ingesting too plenty? I had this subject with a lab. attempt proscribing the nutrition and water intake at one time. I actually had to coach my lab to eat very small food and take in ordinary terms somewhat water at a time. Now the entire bowls are there all the time yet final all day and he or she is six yrs previous. additionally she would have stepped forward a nutrition hypersensitivity. you need to ask your vet to propose a nutrition (rice and lamb?) that could alleviate this. good success.

What has your vet said? Could she be allergic to something? We tried our German Shepherd on a salmon based food when his tummy was messed up. He is fine now.
