yes you are right. you can burn all types of music files in dvd. just like cd. very easy. dvd can store more than 1000 songs(4.5 gb). larger than cd. and even the quality will be great. not only music, you can store every thing in dvd. just like cd. the only thing is you should have dvd writter to burn dvd's. you can't burn dvd's in cd writter. after burning you can't play in a cd player. you should need dvd player to play dvd's. now a days dvd players and dvd writters are very cheap. buy these 2 and enjoy music. I AM ALSO A MUSIC LOVER.

archival back up yes, however it would not play on a cd player. You would have to put a CD-R and burn it, to play again. You would also have to have a CD player that will play burned CD, most do now.

Right. If you want to play the disk in your stereo then it needs to be a blank CD not DVD

Yes, but make sure you have something that will play a DVD-R in music format.

They are completely different, but it could be done. You'd have to burn mpeg compliant audio streams to the DVD, and separate the tracks as chapter points. DVD's really aren't meant for audio.

sure, but you can only store music on it, it won't play like a regular music cd.

You can only use a DVD-R disc if you have a DVD writer.
