Well the way I punish him is i point my finger at him and say NO! and then i put him on the couch away from what he was doing and when i try to pick him up he starts the trying to bite but when you tell him no he growls......And i love him and play with him everyday but when i go to bed or leave the room he gets on the chair and moves to the counter or table and eats the "People Food"
After I do that he gives it about 5 mins then starts the rubbing, rolling over, and licking

This dog's asserting his dominance and needs to learn that in fact YOU are the master around here. Chihuahuas are actually known for their dominance issues, but because they're so small you don't hear about it as often as you do with rottweilers and the like!

He will still love you after you tell him off - dog's actually like the discipline to an extent. They are pack animals after all, and in a pack each one knows his place. Dogs are unhappy if they are confused as to what their position in the pack is supposed to be - if your dog knows he's subordinate to you he'll be happy with that - but if he's naturally an alpha dog, he's going to need constant reminding!

You're doing basically the right thing when you discipline him - but you might also try putting him by himself and ignoring him for a moment when he does something wrong. To back this up, make sure you give him LOADS of fuss and attention EACH TIME he does something good. You might also try getting him used to being rolled on his back and having his tummy tickled - this is what alpha dogs do to the subordinate ones in the pack (well, maybe not the tickling).

Don't feel bad about telling him off - just remember it'll result in a generally more secure dog! Dog's don't view tellings off the same way humans do I don't think.

The way I see it, it's the pampered chihuahuas who behave the worse. The most badly behaved one I ever saw was permanently in his mummy's arms being snuggled - and he wouldn't let anyone near her, or they lost their fingers! They are a breed known for their jealousy and possessiveness.

And don't forget just because they're small, they're still dogs, and view themselves as such, so the pack behaviour thing still applies.

Chalice

If he's eating food he's not supposed to, he definitely needs to be taught that's not the way - in a pack the dogs wait until the alpha dogs have eaten first, and then they do as they're told!

Sadly, there is no such thing as a "teacup chihuahua." Chihuahuas do come in all sorts or sizes and colors,yes.. but they are of the TOY family. A teacup chihuahua is simply the offspring of a small chihuahua.. leading the breeder to believe that these chihuahuas will be small. However, due to genes passed throughout chihuahuas, two very small chihuahuas may produce larger offspring. A "teacup chihuahua" is really only a regular chihuahua that breeders have given a ritzy name to, expecting people to pay more for a puppy that will be smaller than the average. Even then, your puppy may turn out to be up to 6 or 8 pounds. Anyone who is selling you these puppies as "teacup chihuahuas" is already proving their ignorance by labeling a dog with a fictional breed. Showing their ignorance, the breeder has also poorly bred these chihuahuas.. leading to many health problems, and possibly bad traits, such as yappy or rather mean dogs. As you will have the same chance of having a small dog either way, i would suggest you check into the chihuahuas costing $150. These people obviously have more sense.. and seem much more responsible.

First off, how are you punishing him? I have a Chihuahua and when he has done something wrong, I give him a firm NO and put him in his crate. After a few minutes, I take him out and love on him. Also, when they do something wrong, you have to "catch them" in the act and correct them. If you don't see it, then punishing them later even if it is a minute later, will do no good because they will have forgotten what they have done and will not know what they are being punished for.

He is reacting to you punishing HIM and he does NOT know why he is being punished, that is why he grows, he just senses your tone of voice. Use reverse Physocology as we do on our Chihuahua's it Works! I give treats when they get out, they come back right away. Chihuahua's are breeds of dogs that are meant to be pampered, not punished. Little babies! We have several and our most favorite dog! Best Wishes!

you need to give him more attetion. some dogs especially chihuahuas are very jealous so try to do that and when you are punishing him go hard but at the same time iwth love so that he knows that he can't do and if he tries to bite or play telling him "noo"

Well ive had much experience with Chihuahuas and i think that your dog is trying to get attention and i think you should take your dog on walks more and include your dog on car rides and not punish him/her as much. if you need any more info then email me at kaitlynjothomas@yahoo.com

all dogs do something bad once in a while sometimes they get sad when you leave them or it means they want attention its usually small dogs like chihuahuas that always want attention, it could also mean hes bored theres many reasons just make sure you always play with him and give him lots of love and attention

when you punish him he is being defiant and wants to bite back trying to be dominant. if you notice dogs playing they bite eachother and nip trying to become "the dominant dog". once you stop punishing him hes content with being "the dominant dog" and comes to get your attention because while he is still dominant he loves you just the same
