If you are absolutely certain that you are getting a refund there is no time limit for your filing as the government doesn't care if they hold your money.

But since you have to fill out the form to figure out if you're getting a refund, you might as well attach your W-2's and send it in now.

If you're filling out an EZ, it should only take you about 1/2 hour to fill out as it's the easiest form (hence the name).

If you're talking about your 2006 return, you now have a few more hours - it's due at midnight tonight.

If you're getting a refund, there's no penalty for being late and as long as you file within the next three years, you'll still get your refund. If you owe anything, though, you'd be penalized for being late.
